Let’s face it: Summer is dead. D-E-A-D. It’s time to say goodbye to hot girl summer, and hello to…Cinnamon Girl.. Autumn? Yeah. Cinnamon Girl Autumn.
As September rolls into October, all the boils, ghouls, and goblins are usually getting their Halloween/Fall movie lists together. To help make that perfect list, a few streaming and cable channels have announced their airing schedules. Let’s take a peek.
SHUDDER
Now, Shudder has ALREADY started their countdown to Halloween on September 1st. It’s spooky season all year for those folks, so they decided to add a whole extra month. That’s definitely a treat for those of us who live for Halloween everyday. Also, one of my favorite features is the “Ghoul Log” (pictured above). The Ghoul Log is a constant stream of a flickering jack-o-lantern. Pull out your favorite horror novel, stream the Ghoul Log and have yourself a proper spooky night. NETFLIX
Netflix’s Halloween streaming schedule comes to us from VitalThrills.com. They’ve dubbed it “Netflix and Chills,” and it has quite the variety. It includes The Babysitter: Killer Queen, a new series titled Ratched with American Horror Story‘s Sarah Paulson, and Hubie Halloween, the movie Adam Sandler filmed in freaking Salem last fall! TCM
Turner Classic Movies is a great channel to throw on if you’re looking for classic horror movies. This year’s lineup includes The Mummy (1959), Carnival of Souls (1962), and a personal favorite, House on Haunted Hill (1958). Nothing beats getting cozy with your boo on a chilly fall night while enjoying the vintage vibe that TCM provides. Just click through the month of October and check out the lineup!
AMC FEAR FEST
Fear Fest is one of my absolute favorite events as far as television lineups go. When I had cable I would just leave AMC on the television and let the spooky movies roll. They have a few lineups announced on their website so far that includes From Dusk till Dawn. Dracula 2000, and Eli Roth’s History of Horror. They haven’t announced a full October schedule but you can keep up with it here on their website.
Finally, FREEFORM
The release of FreeForm’s 31 days of Halloween schedule is always exciting because it represents the official kickoff of the fall season. I remember when this event was actually ABC Family’s 13 Days of Halloween. We would get home from school, grab a snack, and veg out while Hocus Pocus and The Little Vampire played over and over again. It was a peaceful time. They are bringing it this year with the airing of Beetlejuice, Sleepy Hollow, and The Craft. (Sidenote- what an incredible triple feature that would make). See the FULL October schedule here!
Personally, I am looking forward to Brandon Vick’s 31 days of Halloween movie list. The resident film critic teased a few selections on an episode of the Vick’s Flicks Podcast, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. I would also recommend diving into RighteousJesse’s full list on Twitter. There’s some wild cards there.
