Fans of ties in the NFL are undoubtedly happy this morning, as we saw our first tie of the 2020 season yesterday. The Cincinnati Bengals and the Philadelphia Eagles duked it out for five quarters, each looking for their first win of the season, and somehow, neither team got it. Along the way, we saw Malik Jackson just about end Joe Burrow‘s season, as he continues to fight for his life behind that shoddy Bengals line.

This reminds me of that scene in The Watch when that dude is dying on the floor, Ben Stiller is trying to save him, and Vince Vaughn chimes in with, “I don’t think he’s gonna make it, fella. His heart is out of his chest.” That could be a wildly inaccurate recollection of that movie, but you guys know which quote I’m talking about.
Malik Jackson just out here stuffing people like he’s peak TNA Monty Brown hitting The Pounce on motherfuckers left and right.
For real, though – Burrow is going to take some hits. I’ve been impressed with him so far – sure, he’s shown some rookie-isms, but by and large, he looks like he’s eventually going to be what they drafted him to be.
You just can’t have him back there taking shots like this. Eventually, one of ’em is going to hit just right and put this man on the bench before he can ever get going.
Also, who had the Eagles sucking this bad to start the season? I mean, I figured the Bengals would get off to a rough start (though I did say I thought they’d be surprisingly competitive because they really aren’t all that far off), but the Eagles?!?! I thought this team was going to be leading the NFC East this year.
WTF is going on there? Thankfully, it looks like the entire NFC East is going to be bad this season – Dallas and Washington are tied atop the division at 1-2, while the Eagles are ahead of the Giants at 0-2-1, only because the Giants are 0-3.
What a shitfest – Burrow is getting DRILLED and the reward is still being winless but NOT being 0-3.
