Welcome in to the 2020 NFL MVP Watch, where I will be taking a look around the landscape of the MVP race in the NFL this season. This is pretty much the same thing as my Heisman Watch, sooooo…like, do I want to spend a lot of time on an intro?

Shit, I guess I will for the uninitiated – each week, I will count down the five most MVP-worthy performances of the week and offer up my reasoning for each ranking. You finish first, you get five points. Second is four, so on and so forth. I will keep the season point totals going at the bottom of the article and at the end of the season, whoever has the most points gets the 2020 SoBros Network NFL MVP “honors.”

2020 NFL MVP WATCH: WEEK 4

5. Josh Allen, Bills QB – Allen narrowly edges out the front-runner Russell Wilson for #5 this week after going 24/34 for 288 yards and two touchdowns against a much better quality of opponent than Wilson. Through the first quarter of the season, Allen remains as a viable MVP candidate.

4. Odell Beckham, Jr., Browns WR – Beckham reminded the football world of just what a weapon he can be if you feed him, and that’s exactly what the Browns did in their electrifying win over the Dallas Cowboys. Dude had 81 receiving yards with two receiving touchdowns and 73 rushing yards with a rushing touchdown on the day. 154 total yards and three total scores helped lead the Browns to a 49-38 win.

3. Tom Brady, Buccaneers QB – Brady continues to find his footing with Bruce Arians and that Bucs offense. Right now, it looks like they should be the rightful favorites in the NFC South because of it. He led the league with five touchdown passes this week, finished second in passing yards with 369, and fourth in passer rating with 117.

2. George Kittle, 49ers TE – I don’t usually put players on losing teams on the MVP Watch. I mean, hell – part of determining ‘value’ is looking at whether or not a player lifts his team to victory. But, how can you possibly ignore the spark that Kittle’s return had for the 49ers. He’s a DIFFERENCE-MAKER in that offense, and he proved it on Sunday night, hauling in 15 catches for 183 yards and a touchdown, with backups throwing the ball to him.

1. Aaron Rodgers, Packers QB – With a passer rating of 147.5, Rodgers was the highest rated quarterback of the week. Folks, I know it was the Falcons, but this….THIS…sure as hell looks like MVP Rodgers. He’s hitting dudes no one’s ever heard of in the end zone. The Packers are lighting up the scoreboard, lookin’ like a real Super Bowl contender, and it’s looking like any questions about his arm that may have lingered around from 2019 have been answered. Time to put Rodgers in the same category as Russell Wilson and Josh Allen: legit MVP candidates.
