Steelers at Titans: NFL DFS Advice (3 Players to Watch)
(Derrick Henry): Henry vs Steelers defense makes me think back to last season’s Henry vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers matchup. Tennessee didn’t shy away from the ground game. I’m not expecting them to here. Expect Henry to get upwards of 20 carries. What he’ll do with them depends on how often Tennessee can reach the red zone. Remember that Pittsburgh lost their best linebacker and defensive communicator (LB Devin Bush) to a torn ACL.
Consider this a contrarian play. For $300 cheaper, one can have Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones against a Houston Texans defense who has allowed the following Week 1 to Week 6 team rushing totals: 166-230-169-162-75-263.
(Diontae Johnson): Don’t forget about Johnson. After 23 targets during his first two weeks, Johnson suffered a concussion (Week 3) and back injury (Week 5). This opened the door for WR Claypool to score five touchdowns in the last two games. While Claypool will get tons of buyers at a cheap $5700 price tag, Johnson’s $4200 price could provide more upside and more reasonable ownership. My “guess” is WR James Washington will become the odd man out in a three-man WR rotation that also includes Smith-Schuster ($5500).
It’s hard to pinpoint whether Claypool or Johnson would have the bigger game. Both receivers rotate around the outside positions. Smith-Schuster faces a solid matchup against Titans rookie nickelback Kristian Fulton. At $5500, Smith-Schuster has likely reached a low price point from when he was starting the season near $7000.
(Eric Ebron): Ebron is the style of athletic receiving tight end who has decimated Tennessee defenses for the last decade. Houston Texans No. 2 tight end Darren Fells just posted six catches for 85 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee. At $4000, Ebron provides a solid value option on a slate where the higher priced options are either in difficult matchups or potential regression candidates. Be aware that Pittsburgh has a lot of different offensive weapons with whom they can attack with.
(Final Note): Don’t shy away from this game. While Pittsburgh’s defenses are often viewed as elite, they surrendered 21-plus points in three priors games before a 38-7 victory against the Cleveland Browns. With Pittsburgh losing its star linebacker and lead defensive communicator (Devin Bush), this game can easily surpass 50.5 points.
Diversification provides the largest obstacle for whether anyone can break out to have a dominant performance. Steelers WR Johnson and TE Ebron are my favorite choices to outplay their low price tags.
