Not to brag, but since I am a Big J Journalist, I do get the NFL’s press releases delivered directly to the SoBros Network’s inbox. NBD or anything, just that the NFL recognizes SoBros Network as the fine outstanding beacon of higher journalism that it is. Definitely not the fact that anyone with a blog can sign up to receive them by e-mail. Anyway, after the Tennessee Titans wallered out the buttholes of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, the NFL put out a press release talking about all of the wonderful things that running back Derrick Henry is doing. Folks, we’re talking about some elite company in NFL history here.

Tennessee running back DERRICK HENRY rushed for 215 yards and two touchdowns in the Titans’ 31-10 win at Jacksonville.
Henry is the first player in NFL history with four career games with at least 200 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Henry has seven career games with at least 170 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, tied with Pro Football Hall of Famer ERIC DICKERSON (seven games) for the third-most such games in NFL history. Only Pro Football Hall of Famers LADAINIAN TOMLINSON (11 games) and JIM BROWN (nine) have more.
Henry, who rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns in Week 6 and rushed for 178 yards and three touchdowns in Week 12, is the fifth player with three games of 175-or-more rushing yards and two-or-more rushing touchdowns within a single season in NFL history, joining JAMAL LEWIS (2003), JOE MORRIS (1986), Pro Football Hall of Famer LADAINIAN TOMLINSON (2006) and RICKY WILLIAMS (2002).
Henry has recorded at least 100 rushing yards in nine consecutive road games, the second-longest streak in NFL history. Only Pro Football Hall of Famer BARRY SANDERS (10 consecutive games from 1996-97) has a longer streak.
Yeah, like….we all knew Derrick Henry was good…but I think we might’ve taken for granted just how GOOD good he’s become. This run he’s been on the last couple of years has felt pretty uncanny to us Titans fans. But, to see him start opening eyes (like LeBron James’) on the national scale, and to see him start showing up in the NFL record books….that’s a level I’m not sure any of us saw his star rising to.
FIRST in NFL history? Folks, the NFL was founded in 1920. That’s a hundred damn years ago. And, you’re telling me King Henry is doing things that no one in all that time has before? That’s just crazy.
TYING records with names like Jim Brown, Eric Dickerson, and LaDainian Tomlinson?!?! That ain’t just ‘Hall of Fame’ company – we’re talking about the elite of the elite in NFL history. Barry Sanders‘ name was in there too at one point – I’m having trouble keeping up. Henry is asserting himself as the best back in football today, and if he can continue on this trajectory, there’s no telling how good he can become.
And, really – good for him. Couldn’t happen for a nicer, more humble guy. He’s adding to the great legacy of the running back position for this franchise. He’s closing in on another NFL rushing title. This guy is called ‘King Henry’ for a reason.
He deserves every fucking bit of it.
