Ah, yes – we flip the calendar from February to March. That can mean only one thing – time to revisit the story of the Mobile leprechaun. At this point, this is a veritable rite of passage from winter to spring. St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, and you can’t celebrate without watching this video. So, let’s indulge a bit and take a trip down Memory Lane with some words your’s truly wrote a year ago.

From me in 2018:

We are a little over two weeks away from St. Patrick’s Day, a holiday that isn’t really popular down here in the South. At least not the way it is up in the Northeast. You won’t see many parades around Nashville, and if it’s on a school/work night, you can forget doing anything more than going out for a single beer. But, one thing the South damn sure did right was this grandiose video about a leprechaun in Alabama. If you haven’t already seen this, prepare to have your life changed. If you have already seen it, my God, you can’t enjoy this video enough.

I don’t care what anyone says, until something else comes along that’s funnier, this is the greatest viral video in the history of the Internet. Better than Antoine Dodson. Better than ‘ain’t nobody got time for dat.’ And, it’s better than ‘Charlie bit me.’ It is head and shoulders above the rest of the field.

But, there’s so much going on, and that’s what makes this video such a classic. Everyone has their own thing that they find in this video. Let’s hash out some quick power rankings of all of the historical moments in this video.

MOBILE LEPRECHAUN MOMENTS POWER RANKINGS

5. “I wanna know where the gold at!”

4. The guy out directing traffic prepping to take the war to this leprechaun with his Irish flute that wards off spells.

3. “COULD BE A CRACKHEAD DONE GOT HOLT OF THE WRONG STUFF AND IT TOLD HIM TO GET UP IN A TREE AND PLAY A LEPRECHAUN” – strangely enough, this lady is probably the most reasonable in the group.

2. “WHO ALL SEEN THE LEPRECHAUN SAY YEAH!”

1. The amateur sketch

Happy spring, folks!
