First of all, I had no Earthly idea what to title this post. Like…it’s a “cologne review…” because I really like this cologne. It’s not a Father’s Day shopping guide, ’cause we don’t really do that, and I was always completely clueless as to what to get my dad, so I’m no expert in that regard. So, it just is what it is – me saying, “hey – this is really good stuff, and Father’s Day just so happens to be around the corner, soooo…” Second of all, most of y’all are going to call me a complete shill and/or sell-out for writing this. From the first whiff I took, I loved it. It’s become my new favorite cologne, and I wear it just about every time I leave the house. I’m not sure where you guys stand on having multiple bottles of cologne, but I like having options. I prefer to spritz myself with something different every once in awhile as opposed to having one signature scent. Gotta keep ’em guessing, y’know? So, that explains the “just about” in that first sentence. Anyway, enough quirky tangents. Refined is pretty unique – it’s a little woodsy with a hint of velvet. It’s like sawing wood in an old study somewhere. It’s sawdust on the floor of a library, but there’s a rich floral hint to it as well. Oh, and it also smells like a room that someone might’ve been smoking a spicy cigar in a couple of hours prior to your entering it. It’s complicated, but it’s really different. I’ve found that one spray, directly on the neck beard, does the trick, and I’ll still catch the scent on me hours later. For a 6’2″ 280-pound man that sweats a ton whether it’s hot or freezing outside, that’s saying something.
When I first talked about it, our resident film critic, Brandon Vick, asked me, “is this really good? Or, are you just trying to sell it?” I told him I one million percent believed what I was saying, and he can vouch for that.
