One Thing I Learned From Xavien Howard’s Tweet Is That People Hate to Read

Xavien Howard has requested a trade and all, but can we talk about these people in the comments section?

Stud Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard started trending on Twitter last night after he issued a public statement announcing that he had requested a trade from the team because of unhappiness with the contract he signed in 2018, and feeling disrespected by the team.

You know – people are going to have their differences of opinion on this thing. Personally, I can understand how people might look at a guy who is making a fuck ton of money playing football and not really sympathize with him when he signed a bad contract because he’s still a lot better off than most of us financially and it seems ungrateful to complain about that. But, at the same time, from a business standpoint, I’m all about knowing your worth and getting every dollar out of your prime while you can. So, to kinda help frame my perspective and perhaps to learn a new opinion or two to help me with mine, I made the mistake of thinking I’d check out the replies to see what people were saying about this statement.

I was fucking enraged. The first few replies were something similar to “this is too much to read so I’m not going to read it” or “can someone please recap this for me?” I was blown away – I spent a whopping two minutes of my life, if that, reading this statement. I can’t imagine being so swamped that I can’t take a couple minutes out of my day to read something put out by one of the best corners in the game today (he clocks in at #3 on my list this year). I can’t imagine being so lazy that I can’t be troubled to read words. Who out there is seriously anti-reading? ANTI-WORDS?!?! I pulled some of my favorite responses to share here:

  • I ain’t reading all that G
  • For anyone that doesn’t feel like reading he basically said he’s unhappy with the organization and how they have treated him as far as his contract, he feels as if he’s one of the best CBs in the game and isn’t even the highest paid CB on the team, he wanted more guaranteed money
  • Someone summarize
  • Not reading that essay but future Eagle
  • Not reading all of that, congrats or sorry that happened
  • Not reading that he’s washed anyways
  • What a heart-wrenching story. I’m not reading all that tho.
  • Not reading all of that but I hope all is well for him

I don’t know why, but this is making me so fucking irrationally angry to read this shit. I’m going full-on man shaking his fist at teenagers here. How can you hate reading so much that you’re unwilling to read approximately 200 words in an Instagram post? Do people really NOT read books anymore? JFC. Thankfully, there was at least one person out there who was on the same page with me and this is where I’ll leave this post as I go drink a glass of scotch to calm down.
