‘Best of Nashville’ Voting Is Open – Here’s How to Support Us!

Alright, guys – it’s that time of the year. It’s a tradition unlike any other. The Nashville Scene announced last week that voting has commenced for their 2021 ‘Best of Nashville’ honors. You can help out the SoBros Network crew by heading to the Nashville Scene’s website and voting for us in the ‘Media & Politics’ category. You guys helped us get 3rd place in the Best Blog category, and you helped get yours truly to 2nd place in the Best Columnist category, a year ago. That was really special to us, and I was blown away by how willing the SoBros Nation was to step up and get the votes for us. We would particularly request consideration for the following:

• Best Blog: SoBros Network
• Best Columnist: Your favorite SoBros Network writer (I promise my feelings won’t be hurt if you’re here to support another SoBro and pick them over me. #SameTeam – one of us wins, we all win).
• Best Podcast: Take your pick – same deal as the columnist take. High tide raises all ships.

The Scene says you have to vote in 20 categories for your ballot to count, too. So, do like I did and click around naming some of your favorite restaurants and places around town.

One of my favorite bits running on SoBros Network is getting my name to show up in the dropdown list for ‘Best Sports Writer.’ In no universe do I actually think I’m the best sports writer in town, but I do think it’s funny to see my trash ass name listed among some heavy hitters in the city. Win, lose, or draw – I’ve always had that to take away from this whole voting period. The LOLz, as it were. For a long time, I really downplayed these awards in general. I would say things like, “what do they matter if they don’t make us money?” I would tell the team not to get their hopes up, and that I didn’t imagine we’d see any change in our day-to-day even if we did win. But, something changed when I saw ‘SoBros Network’ at 3rd in the Best Blog category and ‘Stoney Keeley’ as the runner-up for Best Columnist a year ago.

I started getting phone calls, text messages, and DMs like crazy that morning – some from friends that I hadn’t heard from in years. I saw the messages of support from the loyal SoBros Network supporters – the people who have followed us on this journey since the early days of the brand and have seen all of the hard work we’ve put into it. And, I saw the team’s reaction to it. Seeing the SoBros share that moment with me and get excited about receiving that sort of reaction from our city was one of the best feelings I’ve had as the EC. It was then that my grumpy old ass conceded….”ehhh…yeah, this is pretty cool after all.” So, now I found myself out here campaigning on these internet streets, calling upon anyone who has ever been entertained by a SoBros post to help us out.

I’ll gladly lose to J.R. Lind, who I have called directly to his face the best writer in Nashville. But, we have to do something to stop the tyrannical reign of Living with Landyn atop the Best Blog category. I have nothing to base that on – I just feel like she always wins it, and the only people who always win are tyrannical dictators in the regimes they’ve created. Consider this a revolution. If we can’t beat Living with Landyn, then I will have no choice but to close up shop here at SoBros Network and beg her for a job as our clear superior. SoBros Nation – we can’t let that happen.
