What a weird week of news for the New York Giants – it’s incredible, really. First, we get the story about this bonkers street fight, during which Logan Ryan called Evan Engram “butterfingers,” which isn’t a lie, only for everyone on the team to get involved. Daniel Jones tripped over his own two feet and ended up on the bottom of the dog pile. Head coach Joe Judge was furious, and made everyone do push-ups and run from goal line to goal line like they were all children. What is this? Another Anchorman sequel?
Then, two veteran players retire in Todd Davis and Joe Looney – coincidentally after spending just a few days in the Giants building. This just days after receiver-turned-tight-end Kelvin Benjamin had some choice words for Judge after being released for showing up to camp overweight. Now, we have offensive coordinator Jason Garrett out here telling the media to call him ‘coach.’
Jason Garrett just told us to call him coach as he walked off the podium. He said good to see you guys. We said good to see you in person, Jason.

“We say, ‘Good to see you, Coach.’ That’s how we do it.”

How fuckin’ laughable is this? Check out the look on his face in that photo – that is a man that’s just smugly begging for authority. Remind me – what exactly the fuck does Jason Garrett coach the media on? Is there a specific reason he expects people who don’t play for him to call him coach? Does he do this for everyone in his life? Wife? Kids? Friends? Family? If you are in Jason Garrett’s circle, you must call him ‘coach.’
Does COACH know that he’s in New York? I’m surprised nobody threw a drink on him. Can’t help but wonder if this Giants regime is trying way too hard. You don’t see too many environments like this around the league these days – it’s like some of the Lions players that eviscerated Matt Patricia for trying way too hard to be like Bill Belichick. That shit works for Belichick because he’s Belichick. You can’t just come in and run roughshod over your own players and expect to earn their respect – and you damn sure aren’t going to do it to the NEW YORK MEDIA, who has absolutely no obligation to entertain your requests.
This all sounds like the behavior of some hardos that have no idea how to actually build team chemistry. Good luck getting your players to play for you acting like this.
