This week, I’ll be taking a look back at some of our best episodes on each of the SoBros Network podcasts. Up first, we’re diving into the various actor and actress profiles that we’ve done on The Vick’s Flicks Podcast in 2021. It’s been a hell of a year here on The Vick’s Flicks Podcast, and between our resident film critic, Brandon Vick, a couple of SoBros guest, and myself, we’ve put together quite the collection of podcasts over the course of the year. Let’s dive in.
The Vick’s Flicks Podcast, 2021: Actors and Actresses
Denzel Washington (link) – Denzel Washington appeared in his first sequel ever, doing The Equalizer 2 back in January. He’s one of the most recognizable draws in movie history, and one of the most respected actors in the film industry. Brandon and I looked back at some of the roles and movies that have made Washington’s career so memorable on this episode.
Eddie Murphy (link) – Eddie Murphy returned to the screen in March with the release of Coming 2 America, the sequel to one of his most famous roles from the glory days of Eddie Murphy comedy. Brandon and I saw this as the perfect opportunity to dive into his filmography and the interesting dynamic his career has had – it’s almost as if there are two Eddie Murphys.
Melissa McCarthy (link) – Wow – Thunder Force was this year? Also, someone actually greenlit Thunder Force? Nonetheless, it gave us the chance to look at the interesting resumé that McCarthy boasts and the underrated range that she has as an actress.
Jason Statham (link) – Jason Statham was back in the collective conscience of movie-goers back in May with the release of Wrath of Man. In talking about the movie, we landed on the hot take that Statham might be a tad underrated in the grand history of film for the contributions he’s made to the acting genre over the course of the last 20+ years.
Scarlett Johannson (link) – We talked about the long-awaited release of Black Widow back in July, and after Brandon gave us his official review of the film, we dove into some of Johannson’s more memorable roles on this one.
Daniel Craig (link) – This was a conversation focused mainly on Craig’s portrayal of one of the most iconic characters in cinema history in James Bond, and it was timed right at the release of No Time To Die. Is he the best to ever don the 007 moniker?
Will Smith (link) – At one point in the 2000s, Will Smith’s presence was virtually a license to print money. He was a huge box office draw 10-15 years ago, but he’s since cooled off a bit for one reason or another. The release of King Richard back in November signaled his return to the highest level of acting. While he’s generating Oscar buzz, we thought it was the perfect time to look back on his filmography.
