Join us for “Sunday Scaries On Shudder” where we watching a different horror movie from the Shudder library to prepare for the horror that is the week ahead.

Gary Green as “Barry”
We kicked off the inaugural week of “Sunday Scaries On Shudder” by watching the insane sci-fi horror, Fried Barry, from writer and director Ryan Kruger. This movie gets buck wild in every single category. It has aliens, it has sex, it has drugs, it has neon lights, it has blood and goo. Sprinkle a bit of body horror in there as the cherry on top.
Barry, a drug addict and an all around garbage husband and father, gets abducted by aliens. After the prettiest depiction of probing I’ve ever seen, the aliens send his body back down to earth, but with an alien host. This leads Barry and his alien inhabitant through the most drug-filled, bizarre, and horny afternoon in existence.
Like most films these days, Fried Barry runs a little too long for me and the reasoning behind a few scenes gets a bit muddled. But that’s not to say this movie lacks in entertainment though. Every scene is trip after trip, both figuratively and literally. Gary Green is the perfect casting as Barry with his outrageous facial expressions and bizarre body movements in both human and alien form.

This movie is certainly not for everybody, but I had a damn good time with Fried Barry. It’s more like experiencing a man walk through the most unhinged haunted house than watching an actual movie, and I’ll be eager to check out what other experiences Ryan Kruger will bestow upon us earthlings.
Fried Barry definitely helped me forget about the scariest thing of all: Monday. Perhaps an alien will abduct me and free me from the dull and drab corporate America. Just skip the probing this time, please.
