Let’s face it – every day we are routinely bombarded with questions. When you’re an emerging media company in Nashville, people just want to know what your opinions are on everything. It’s only natural. And, since our duty is to serve the people, well, we have no choice but to be present. That’s the SoBro Way. Also, aren’t mailbags just a barrel of laughs anyway? Welcome to the newest weekly recurring feature up in this bitch: The SoBros Mailbag. As always, hit us with those mailbag questions @SoBrosNetwork on Twitter, email ’em to me anonymously at thesobrosnetwork@gmail.com. And, holy shit, I need to update this terrible intro paragraph that I’ve been using literally ever since I started writing this column…
Question, from Steven in person in my living room:
What are there more of in the world, doors or wheels?
Answer:
I first saw this question posed on dueling tip jars at Ugly Mugs over in East Nasty last Saturday – I threw my tip in the ‘wheels’ bucket, but when I started thinking about all of the doors in my house, and how we qualify ‘doors’ (like…the surprising amount of furniture that has a door on it…and aren’t cabinets technically doors?), I changed my mind. After talking to Steven about it yesterday, I’ve changed my mind again and am back on ‘wheels.’ This is a highly divisive and polarizing topic.
Question:
It a live broadcast of you having sexual intercourse could guarantee world peace, who do you want on the call?
— brett (@thebrettclark) March 17, 2022
Answer:
Give me Joe Buck first and foremost – he’s a great analyst, but has a low key smarmy sense of humor that I feel like we’d have to have in the booth if my penis was going to be shown to millions. Piling on the sense of humor factor, I think I’m going to put Bill Walton next to him and just see what happens. If I can get a third man in the booth, it’ll definitely be Scott Steiner.
Question:
This might be more suitable for @SirBrandonV but which Toy Story is best?
— Outdoor SoBro (@OutdoorSoBro) March 17, 2022
Answer:
Directly from our resident film critic himself: “My heart will always be with the first Toy Story. That’s when Pixar changed animation forever, & plus was our introduction to such lovable toys. But Toy Story 3 is a very close second! They both speak volumes to childhood & growing up. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of them.”
Question, from Olivia on Instagram:
What’s a book that has made you cry?
Answer:
Wow, this is a tough one – I cry a lot. I’m a big time cryer. Just wear my heart on my sleeve and am deeply affected by things. But, most recently, I cried reading a short story from Ray Bradbury titled The Laurel and Hardy Love Affair (found it on a WordPress site here). Something about that story just felt intensely beautiful and yet cosmically sad at the same time – it touches on passion, how hotly it can burn, and how fleeting it can be. It touches on themes of the inevitable passing of time, how our lives take us all on different paths, and how those paths intertwine for brief moments in time. It reminded me of a sober look into simpler times in the past – how sometimes we have things that we will never get back, and we have no idea of it at the time. Things that define us…that we carry with us just below the surface for the rest of our lives without even realizing it. Admittedly, it’s a lot to get out of a short story, but I found it to be rather profound, and I remember closing the book that night with watery eyes and thinking, “what the fuck are you doing, Stoney?”
