We have a major milestone on deck for The Vick’s Flicks Podcast, and we are set to surpass it on Sunday evening. That’s right – on cinema’s biggest night, your favorite ragtag band of degenerate podcasters from Nashville will go live once again for a watch-along of the Oscars ceremony. We had such a fun time doing it last year, that we figured why not run it back? So, be sure to follow @SoBrosNetwork on either Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter, get your popcorn ready, and join myself, our resident film critic Brandon Vick, and Steven McCash as we react in realtime to all of the action (or lack thereof depending on how you look at the Oscars). We’ll go live about 30 minutes before the ceremony to address all of our predictions and thoughts on the evening.
But, wait – there’s more! This year, the President of the Music City Film Critics Association, Sean Atkins, has agreed to join us on the broadcast. Indeed, it will be a celebration of good movies and a fantastic run for The Vick’s Flicks Podcast. We’re also taking the opportunity to raise a little bit of money to help serve those in need over the course of our livestream. Since it’s Brandon’s milestone, I let him come up with a charity of his choosing, and he landed on Book’em, an organization whose mission is “to create a more literate Nashville and ignite children’s passion for reading through book ownership and enthusiastic volunteers.” Every $2.50 donated provides a book to a child in need. Fantastic idea – so, we’re asking that if you have anything to give, please consider throwing a little Book’em’s way.
We’re actually going to conduct a raffle – every $10 donated to Book’em gains you one entry into the raffle. The prize will be your choice of a Marvel Funko Pop prize package (pictured below) or just simply $25 straight up Venmo’ed to you if you’re not a nerd like most of us are.
