Pizza and beer has to be one of the more underrated culinary combinations on the market. I was sitting inside The Station Inn one day, listening to some tunes – can’t remember if it was Tin Pan South or Americanafest, but that’s really irrelevant to this story – anyway, I looked up and noticed an old school neon sign with a Budweiser logo that looked like it had been plucked straight out of the 80s. The sign simply read “Bud N’ Pizza.” It hit me in that moment – “holy shit…yeah…pizza really is good with a cold beer.” There’s no shortage of places in town at which you can grab a pie and a pint in the same sitting. But, when we talk about such establishments, I don’t feel like folks give BoomBozz the credit it deserves in the conversation.
I’ve been several times at this point – to locations in East Nashville, Spring Hill, and most recently, Murfreesboro. But, believe it or not, sometimes I don’t work. So, I haven’t really thought about snapping the photos and jotting down what we got to add it to our grand pantheon of Nashville Reviews here on SoBros Network until recently. It was another one of those “holy shit” moments – “holy shit, we don’t have a review of BoomBozz up on the site.” So, here we are – accompany me through this fantastic meal at a restaurant I’ve yet to have a disappointing meal at. Food: 7.74/10 – At this point, my fiancé and I have tried six different pizzas off of the menu. I’m a fan of their Tuscan chicken pizza and its garlic cream sauce. I know Aura loved the fire roasted chicken pizza we had the trip before last. The Nonna was good as well – I’m a sucker for fresh basil and prosciutto on a pizza. BoomBozz claims to use premium ingredients, and you’ll get no argument from me. Whether the ingredients came out of a can or not, it doesn’t taste like it. Everything tastes fresh and flavorful. And, the tater kegs are a must-get any time we go – giant tater tots stuffed with cheese and bacon? Are you kidding me? Pro tip: save the sauces once you’re done – you can dip your pizza crust in it. Thank me later.
Booze: 7/10 – Really solid beer list with options that you don’t get at any ol’ watering hole. It’s the only place in Nashville that I’ve found El Segundo’s Broken Skull IPA on tap. So, it immediately gets points for that. Their beer list really does have the feel of something you’d get at a craft brewery.
Value: 5.5/10 – My gut reaction was 5/10, solid right-down-the-middle value. But, the more I thought about it, the more I thought I’d give BoomBozz a little kick because their ingredients really do stand out, and I cannot stress this enough – I love El Segundo’s Broken Skull IPA. If you take nothing else away from this review, please understand that. It’s all the flavor of an IPA, but it goes down as smooth as a Coors Light. How’d they do that?
Atmosphere: 6.7/10 – BoomBozz combines the sports bar and craft brewery aesthetics well. The service has always been great, and they have TVs littering the walls, so whatever game you’re there to catch, they’ll have it somewhere.
Overall: 6.74/10 – There are so many options for pizza and beer in Nashville. But, with BoomBozz, you get a fearless menu of pizzas with incredible fresh toppings, a fun appetizer menu, an extensive beer list, and a laid back vibe that makes it the perfect place to kill an afternoon. It’s a bad day to be a cold beer when you walk through the doors at BoomBozz.
