Bellator 282 is set to go down tomorrow night (6/24/22) LIVE on Showtime from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. Prelims kick off at 5PM CST, with the main card going live at 8PM CST. The current #9 ranked Featherweight in Bellator’s rankings, the 6-0 Cody Law, is set to fight James Gonzalez on the prelims. Ahead of tomorrow night’s fight, Cody was generous enough with his time to sit down with me for this week’s episode of the SoBros Power Hour, powered by Trouble Spirits.
On this week’s show, Cody and I chat about his work rate, given this is already his 2nd fight of 2022, and he rattled off five fights in 12 months to start his Bellator career. I ask him why he likes his fights so close together, and how he stays motivated. At 6-0, I ask him if each win adds pressure for the next to keep the undefeated train rolling.
Of course, I can’t talk to Cody Law and NOT mention the fact that he writes down the outcomes of his fights before they happen. He even called his light fight down to the second. So, me being the credible journalist that I am, I had to ask him if he made a deal with the devil or if he has a crystal ball or something. But, the conversation yields some fascinating insight into the importance of visualization and how that process helps Cody in the fight game.
Seeing as how he’s climbing the Featherweight rankings, I ask him when he thinks he’ll be due for a championship opportunity, and again, I’m met with an honest, insightful, and thoughtful answer. We had some fun with this interview, but Cody gave me some gold as well. There’s so much that we can learn from the fight game about discipline and drive that translates to everyday life for the average Joe.
