I’m so fucking sweaty.
The oppressive Tennessee heat.
It weighs on my back like a book bag.
I am dripping wet.
One too many and I have to get this wine flight back to our picnic spot without stumbling somehow.
Lying in the grass
Admiring the hills
Stretched across a blanket in my wet shirt
The breeze is cool
The kind of cool you feel after getting out of a hotel pool in air conditioning
It’s momentarily relief
But I’m used to it
I embrace the sweat
People stare but I could not care less
I only look as if I’ve just played basketball inside an oven.
Instead, I’ve been resting
Watching the bugs carry out their day to day affairs on the ground.
An ecosystem
Interconnected blades of grass
Ants climbing from leaf to leaf
This clean mowed area the suburb to the sky scraping city of the forest
Theres a wealth of life here
The grounds are springing with it.
Be it the birds in the trees
Or some bitch ranting about the democrats to her friends who don’t care.
Please chill. Reflect. Even meditate.
Enjoy some wine.
Enjoy a cigar.
Enjoy the life surrounding you.
