How to Vote for Us in the Nashville Scene’s “Best of Nashville” 2022

I almost hate to write this post today. I’ve always thought that these sorts of things just mean more when they’re organic, and my hope is that one of these days, enough people will remember SoBros Network that they’ll stuff the ballots without us saying a word. But, I also know that we have a loyal and engaged audience, however small it may be compared to the big dawgs, that want to support us, and that do support us. In this day and age, I’m well aware that the almighty algorithms aren’t showing you guys everything that we post every day, and it’s easy for stuff to get lost in the shuffle. So, with a knot in my throat, I’m writing to do, at the very least, to let you all know that the polls are open and you can support us in the Nashville Scene’s annual ‘Best of Nashville’ honors.

I used to scoff at this kind of stuff – being a little entrepreneurial-minded for my own good. I’d say things like “what kind of business impact to these kinds of awards have on SoBros Network?” I’d sarcastically ask, “how much money is this going to add to the SoBros piggy bank?” All of that kind of jaded talk from a guy who has been burned by spending way too much time on the internet. But, then – to my surprise, mind you – we actually ended up on a couple of spots in 2020’s ‘Best of Nashville’ honors.

SoBros Network earned third place in ‘Best Blog,’ and yours truly was the runner-up in the ‘Best Local Columnist’ category. My Grinch heart grew three sizes that day (shit, I don’t remember the line from the movie so I know that’s not exactly accurate). I will never forget the flood of text messages and posts on social media that I received. People legitimately thought we were famous. I’ll never forget how proud the team felt, and how seeing our name in print like that gave us a sense of hope that maybe there were enough of you guys out there catching on to what we were doing. In a way, I underestimated how something like that could keep me motivated and keep me movin’ forward at a time when it was easy to get bogged down in the early pandemic era funk. It brought a sense of validation to years of hard work that I didn’t quite expect, and it gave us a reason to celebrate (even if I did postpone the outing until the following summer at Game Terminal).

So, now you can help us chase that high once again – you don’t have to vote us in for ‘Best Hot Dog’ like someone did a few years ago, but you can help us out in the ‘Media’ category with the following nominations:

  • Best Blog: SoBros Network
  • Best Columnist: Your favorite SoBros Network writer.
  • Best Podcast: Pick your favorite SoBros Podcast – Phone It In, The Vick’s Flicks Podcast, The SoBros Power Hour, Drinking With…, The Nashville Creator Series.
  • Best Sports Podcast: The Unofficial Titans Podcast, The College Football Roundup

You can hit up the ‘Best of Nashville‘ page to support all of your favorite local institutions in a myriad of categories, or you can head straight to the ‘Media & Politics’ section to help us end the tyrannical reign of Living with Landyn. I think you still have to vote in 20 categories for your ballot to count, at least according to the Scene’s FAQ page. All of your support is appreciated.
