I’m Beginning to Think Music City Baseball Is the Illuminati

A hundred years from now, we'll still be talking about "MLB to Nashville."

First things first, y’all. I know I’m about a day behind on all of the news this week. This week is kicking my ass. So, bear with me – there’s still some shit I have to say even if it is out of the 24-hour news cycle at this point. Also, I want to give a shout out to my man VLove on Twitter (top tier Twitter follow) for leading the crusade and pounding tweets out about how this whole ‘MLB to Nashville’ group Music City Baseball is a ponzi scheme. Credit where credit’s due – that’s how I saw that we were having this conversation yet again.

I’m pretty sure I wrote my first blog about Major League Baseball and how it would fit in Nashville nine years ago before SoBros Network dot com was even alive. At first, it was awesome to think about. We were hopeful. Then, some rumors heated up about maybe the Baltimore Orioles or the Tampa Bay Rays relocating to Nashville. Then, more time passed, and this Music City Baseball group came into the spotlight. Now, all this time later, and we still don’t feel much closer to actually having MLB in Nashville, but the folks at Music City Baseball don’t seem to be slowing down their efforts to convince folks that it’s coming soon enough at all.

Courtesy of the Nashville Business Journal:

Music City baseball’s current goal is to have construction start on the multipurpose stadium in 2024, John Loar, managing director for Music City Baseball, said in an interview. The group’s timeline is focused on the Nashville Stars playing their first potential season in 2027.

Did I miss something? ‘Cause last I saw, MLB hasn’t even confirmed that expansion is going to happen. Much less that Nashville is being awarded a team!

No one knows what the plan is. No one knows where the money’s coming from. We’re just going to keep right on trucking and pretending that the MLB to Nashville talk is a LOCK! On one hand, I can certainly appreciate the confidence. I dare say I respect the practice of just saying “we’re going to go ahead and do this completely insane thing even though nothing has been confirmed.” But on the other hand, it’s starting to feel a bit delusional. At this point, everyone knows what MLB would be like in Nashville – we’ve hashed out every talking point you can imagine surrounding this topic. It’s not even fun to talk about anymore! It just feels like a tease! We got baseball blue balls here, guys!

So, the only logical conclusion here is that Music City Baseball is actually the Illuminati, or some dark secret cabal, that has all sorts of money that they can’t talk about, and they can’t tell us HOW they know, but they just know that MLB is coming to Nashville. There’s some power player behind the scenes, operating in the shadows, and when the time is right, they will walk into the light to rule the New World Order (conspiracy theory New World Order – not the pro wrestling New World Order, though I wouldn’t be opposed to that). I’ll tell you what – if MLB does end up coming to Nashville, I’d watch out for what these Music City Baseball people start saying and doing next.
