I’m going to level with you guys. I’m a tad disappointed with how I managed our Friday feel good, Nashville news and lifestyle show, the SoBros Power Hour, in 2022. There was just so fucking much going on this year that something was bound to take a hit for it, and I think this podcast ended up doing so. I didn’t get a regular cadence going with the episodes, and that’s something I really want to improve in 2023. This is our oldest show – the one we started with all the way back in 2013! It’s important to me, and it’s a damn fun show to boot. Nonetheless, this isn’t to say that we didn’t have some fun and put out some damn good episodes in 2022. To wrap up our “best of 2022” week, and in the spirit of that Friday feeling, I’ve picked my favorite TGIF-inducing episodes of the SoBros Power Hour from the year that was!
The Best of the SoBros Power Hour, 2022
Ep. 59: One Night in Mobile – link – What a shit show. McCash and I went down to Mobile, Alabama to cover the 2022 Senior Bowl back in February, and the trip got off to a rocky start with one of the wildest travel nights I’ve ever had. Listen to us recount the tale on this episode from the beginning of the year.
Ep. 62: Should Jim Have Stayed With Karen Instead of Going to Pam? – link – That’s right. You can always count on us to ask the important investigative journalism questions. It’s always a good time when our longtime friend RHog stops by the studio to record some audio with me. This episode was no different!
Ep. 65: Owen’s Guide to New York City – link – We had a really good run of travel pods on the Power Hour this year. This fun little show from April chronicled Owen’s trip up to the Big Apple.
Ep. 67: GEODIS Park, BBQ, and Renting a Shed in East Nashville – link – It was a collab years in the making, but we finally got it done. Our good buddy Pat Artus of the Quick Sixer Podcast hopped on the mics with Brittany and me for a show of epic proportions. Literally, I think this is the longest Power Hour we’ve ever done.
Ep. 69: My Perfect Nashville Wedding – link – Yeah, 2022 was a big year for me. For the first five months of the year, I felt like my head was swimming and I was overwhelmed with a long to-do list. But, it was all worth it when I married my best friend on a beautiful early summer night in Nashville. I dig into the evening on this episode from back in May, and I do believe this was the most downloaded episode of 2022 too, by the way.
Ep. 76: Welcome to Danger Zone Video – link – In case you haven’t been paying attention, our friends Brittany and Jesse have brought the good old fashioned physical media store back to the Nashville area with Danger Zone Video out in Mount Juliet. They joined me to talk about the shop and get into our usual Power Hour shenanigans on this episode from back in the summer time.
Ep. 79: Small Town Tennessee and the Piney River – link – In a way, this was sort of inadvertently our 2022 fall preview (since we didn’t actually do a fall preview this year), but Ryan and I shared our experience from a fine Sunday afternoon spent leisurely drifting down the Piney River and we talked about our favorite small towns around!
