The cultural staple that is the Super Bowl has come and gone. While the game itself was one for the ages, as is always the case with the Super Bowl, there are a ton of ancillary stories that come crawling out of it. Super Bowl LVII was no different – from the halftime show to the commercials to the country pleading to make the following Monday a holiday, there is plenty to talk about. But, for us here on The Vick’s Flicks Podcast, it was all about those movie trailers that dropped during Sunday’s coverage.
It’s always interesting to see who is going to spend the money for a Super Bowl ad. As Brandon and I discuss on this most recent episode of The Vick’s Flicks Podcast, it doesn’t feel like everyone that does run an ad needs to run an ad. Where films such as 65 and Air handed over money well spent, did Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 really need to?
Nonetheless, it’s just a small part of the larger conversation about this year’s crop of Super Bowl trailers. Brandon and I break them all down in what ends up being a pretty nice little preview of what’s to come in 2023.
