New general manager Ran Carthon is on the warpath already! The mission? Clear up some cap dollars for the Tennessee Titans. At the time of this writing, wide receiver Robert Woods and left tackle Taylor Lewan are the only casualties, but I don’t think anyone is safe when it comes to retooling this roster and getting it ready for the next generation of Titans. Lewan is one of the biggest personalities to don the two-tone blue, and for that, he became a massive fan favorite here in Nashville. Hell, he became such a fan favorite that he started to get haters strictly because so many people liked him (and called him ‘dad’). So, I thought it would only be fitting to look back at Lewan’s career and cherry pick my personal favorite “moments” from our time with the guy. Also, as for the future, my sources tell me that Lewan could either keep playing football or retire.

Taylor Lewan’s Greatest Moments with the Titans

6. Boss Hog – I mean, come on….it’s gotta be one of the first things we think of when we hear Lewan’s name.

5. Richard Sherman – There’s a lot of fun, funny, and fun-loving history with Lewan because of his sense of humor and his demeanor in front of a microphone, for sure. But, this incident sticks in my mind because I legitimately thought he was going to murder someone on the field. It’s a good example of how Lewan was willing to go to bat for his quarterback, the teammate he was, and how that kind of shit wasn’t going to fly with this Titans team.

4. Jalen Ramsey – I guess Twitter has scrubbed this shit from the internet, but you can see it in No Context Tennessee Titans tweet right off the bat at the five-second mark. People called this a flop, but I don’t think that’s the case. I think it’s genuinely Lewan’s strength that forced Ramsey to the ground with such gravity.

3. Catfish beer – Yeah! Catfish beer.

2. Josh Norman – I’m a strong proponent of dancing on someone’s grave, and the moment Lewan hit this pose on Norman, I was raising two beers in the air like Stone Cold Steve Austin. If you don’t remember what happened next, Norman forcefully threw his helmet to the ground, charged Lewan, and got in his face while Lewan calmly walked away. Elite level agitation.

1. Bussin’ With The Boys – The city needs journalism like this. Who else could get Mike Vrabel to admit he’d cut his dick off for a Super Bowl win? BWTB paved the way for a lot of player podcasts, and I get why some are critical of it. But, the players that come on the bus tend to let their guard down a little more than when they’re talking to media dicks like us. In that, you get some genuine insight into what it’s like to be a player in the NFL.

As for his worst moment, forget the ACL tears – it’s undoubtedly that time he had to high-five himself because Ryan Tannehill left him hanging.

In all seriousness, Lewan has been one of the cornerstones of this franchise for the last nine years. There’s a lot of extracurricular stuff with the guy, but we lose sight of how elite he was at the top of his game. For years, I argued with anyone that would listen that he was a top three tackle in the NFL. He has played with a finisher’s mentality in the run game, and elite athleticism to mirror edge rushers in pass pro. Just don’t put on the Cardinals tape for fucks sake. More importantly, I think we lose sight of just how bad things were here when Lewan was drafted. His mindset, the type of thing that was evidenced in that clip with Sherman and the Seahawks above, helped to transform this franchise and get it back to a place of respectability, even before Vrabel joined the team in 2018. Lewan has a natural place in the media, and if that’s what he chooses to do next, he’ll shine with a big personality and an entertaining bravado that few have. Regardless, he has a rightful spot among the elite players and popular figures in Titans history.
