The SoBros Mailbag 235: Kevin Byard and Crab Rangoon

It's lunch time on a Friday. The SoBros Mailbag is here!

Let’s face it – every day we are routinely bombarded with questions. When you’re an emerging media company in Nashville, people just want to know what your opinions are on everything. It’s only natural. And, since our duty is to serve the people, well, we have no choice but to be present. That’s the SoBro Way. Also, aren’t mailbags just a barrel of laughs anyway? Welcome to the newest weekly recurring feature up in this bitch: The SoBros Mailbag. As always, hit us with those mailbag questions @SoBrosNetwork on Twitter, email ’em to me anonymously at thesobrosnetwork@gmail.com. And, holy shit, I need to update this terrible intro paragraph that I’ve been using literally ever since I started writing this column…

Question:

Answer:

At first glance, this is an easy question – give me the billion dollars, but holy shit….when you stop and think about it…..five years….nothing but crab rangoon??? Damn….not only would that be tough as hell from a personal taste standpoint, but what would that do to your body? Could you even sustain that for five years?!?! Generally speaking, I like my life. I’m comfortable. I don’t think I’d do it. I think I’d just take my year of service and get the fuck out of there. Man, I hope I am never faced with this question in real life. What will my life have to devolve into for that to happen?

Question, from Zach on Instagam:

Do you want to cut Kevin Byard or release Kevin Byard?

Answer:

I am not well. First, the AJ Brown trade…now, the release of Taylor Lewan….Ben Jones might be gone…people are clamoring for Ryan Tannehill’s exit…we’re talking about trading Derrick Henry…I just can’t take it. I don’t want to face the idea that this era of Titans football, one that looked so promising after the 2019 season, is coming to an end. As any smart Titans fan should do, I watch A Football Show every Monday and Thursday (you can listen in podcast form too). As Zach pointed out, Byard has cap hits of $19.6M in 2023 and $17.8M in 2024. A restructure makes sense, but it’s just too much to face at one time. I’m approaching Mike Herndon levels of pessimistic about the state of this franchise after this week’s pod loop.

Keep the questions coming – catch y’all next week!
