Yo We Might Have a Way to Build a Wormhole in a Lab

If we can create a wormhole in a lab, are you hopping down that thing?

Man, I’m telling you guys. Each day, I wake up and the world just seems to be getting closer and closer to some wild breakthrough. It’s going to happen – I can feel it all the way down in my plums with their bluish hue. Last week, I wrote about how there might’ve been a dark big bang that created dark matter, and somehow, I got on this idea that our very own thoughts could be dark matter. But, I think that was just all the gin I drank talking. Anyway, it’s a new week and a new topic here on the futurology section of SoBros Network. Today, we’re talking about a feasible idea for building a wormhole.

I came across this piece for Popular Mechanics, about how a physicist at the University of Bristol believes he has put together a framework for the creation of a wormhole. Or, more technically put, he claims a way to achieve “counterportation,” which is “like teleportation, except it doesn’t carry particles from one place to another.” Now…we’re going to have to build a new quantum computer to achieve this, and of course, our technology isn’t there yet. But, from a theoretical standpoint…hey, it’s a start. It’s like how we transfer data through our computers all the time without any particles that make up the computer moving. I think…shit, I don’t know that I fully understand it for sure. But, that’s what I’m going to run with for the time being.

So, what are the ramifications of such a thing? Well, think about what we could achieve if we had a wormhole. Wait….what could we actually achieve with a wormhole? Space travel? Shit, are we even equipped to do that? Or, are we just going to be evaporating people? Even worse, what if the wormhole spits you out somewhere that is 20 degrees outside and you’ve dressed for summer?!? Terrible! I still don’t know how it’s going to work without transferring particles. The term ‘disembodied travel’ kind of freaks me out. But, maybe I’m just a simpleton. That’s simple brain of mine is going to be exactly what ends up getting me through a wormhole, though.

If we can get legit working wormholes at some point within my lifetime, I’m 100% going to volunteer to jump down it. Think about it. I’m already 36 years old. By the time we get these things made and ready for human testing, it’s going to be decades. I’ll be an old man (hopefully) without much left to live for. So, why not try it out? Best case scenario, this thing spits me out in some universe where time doesn’t exist so I’ll be immortal, and maybe I could even build a new world to hang out in. Worst case scenario, that wormhole shreds me to pieces and I won’t feel a thing. That’s truly dying for a noble cause. Sounds like a win-win to me.
