I hate the ocean. It’s incredibly sobering to think about how much of it is unexplored, and the potential for what could be lurking far beneath the surface. Fuck that, in short. Nonetheless, when duty calls, I have to suck it up and overcome my fears for the sake of the content. I’m not saying I’m a big brave man…maybe I’m a big brave man, but when Rooster came to me with the idea for this month’s episode of Phone It In, I had to put aside my feelings about the ocean to get the job done. And, I’m glad we did it because this show was a ton of fun.

We’re talking specifically about an encounter that was documented some 300 miles from the coast of present day Namibia back in 1848. The British navy ship, the Daedalus, was sailing the ocean when the crew spotted an “enormous serpent” that they believed to be about 60 feet long, lookin’ like a giant eel or snake or something like it, moving in a straight line near the ship. What could it have been? Was it really a serpent? Was it a tree that somehow ended up 300 miles out in the ocean? What the hell is living in the depths of the sea? Rooster and I dive into all of that and more on the latest episode of Phone It In.
