Titans Fans Are Creaming Their Pants Over Will Levis and I’m Not Going to Stop Them

Rookie QB Will Levis showed out at Titans minicamp last week.

I’ve written about Will Levis on a couple of occasions this draft cycle – once as an option for the Tennessee Titans in the first round. Then, I did a film study piece on Levis after he was drafted to the Titans, which you can access on Stacking The Inbox as a VIP member. Our guy Sean Atkins wrote a nice piece about how Levis doesn’t deserve the hate he’s gotten so far. We’ve been on it! All of this to say that if you’re a regular reader and supporter of SoBros Network, you probably already know that I have some major concerns about how Levis projects in the NFL – I wonder about his feel for the game, mainly. But, when I fired up the 2021 Mizzou and LSU games for Stacking The Inbox, I found that I could at least see what the Titans saw in him as a potential franchise quarterback for this franchise.

The offense he played in at Kentucky, specifically in 2021, looked exactly like something the Titans would want to run. Ran Carthon told 104.5 The Zone after the draft that one of the reasons they liked Levis was because of his experience in running NFL offenses. And, that showed up when I watched those two extra games for my Film Rewind piece. He’s constantly reading the defense, sending guys in motion, going through progressions once the ball is snapped, and he keeps the unit moving. It’s balanced between play action under center and shotgun. They liked to run the ball out of different formations. I mean, it was a lot of stuff that seems to fit with what this Titans regime wants to do from a conceptual standpoint. So, the question is about whether or not Levis can execute it. He got his first chance last week as the Titans held their rookie minicamp, and several clips of Levis making splash plays excited Titans Twitter, making the rounds all weekend.

Alright, I’m calling it – we’re done slandering Levis until he he does something worth slandering in a Titans uniform. I have never said anything bad about the guy. I have always been on board with this pick, but I know a lot of you have said some hateful things about him, and it’s just plain time that we stop. We’re all creaming our pants over this ball placement, that smooth quick release, and his firm command of the offense. But, we can’t do that fully if we’re still holding on to our reservations about him – I say embrace it. Cream your pants. I’ll cream mine. Let’s start making our plans for the Super Bowl parade after one rookie minicamp.

Getting hyped up on a player after a rookie minicamp has surely never come back to bite us as a fan base before. Why would it now with the new franchise quarterback on the roster? The narrative on Levis heading into the draft was so polarizing – we just need to accept that it was all lies, and he is the next Josh Allen. Things are new. They’re still fun. It’s like the honeymoon period when we just can’t stop fuckin’ y’know? Let us have our fun. Let us enjoy these clips of dudes making plays in shorts while we can. As Titans fans, we never know when heartbreak is just on the horizon.
