Don’t Go Through the Fence Playing Basketball This Summer

A quick PSA for everyone thinking they're LeBron in the backyard.

It is officially backyard barbecue season, and I for one, love that. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of the sunshine beaming down with the sounds and smells emanating from the grill, and hitting that backyard for some cornhole, bocce ball, or really any sort of ball at all. If you’ve got some pool action, man, that is peak living. Absolutely nothing hits like a pool in the summertime. And, if you’ve got a basketball hoop in the backyard, I’m gonna be damn sure to find it.

For the record, I’m not saying I love ball because I’m good at it. I just love shooting a basketball around. I actually suck to high heaven at basketball. I used to always tell my teammates in pick-up games at the rec center at MTSU that if you pass me the ball, I am either going to immediately pass it to someone else, or I’m just going to shoot it no matter where I’m at on the court. That was my strategy as someone who can’t handle a basketball for shit. Nonetheless, I recently came across a clip on the old Twitter machine that could serve as a valuable PSA for anyone thinking about getting into the backyard basketball mix this summer. Just don’t overdo it, y’know?

I think this is simultaneously the worst and the best basketball I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m not one to talk, because I’d be gassed out there trying this move, but these boys look like they’ve done been in the glizzys and are dealing with those post-meal bloats. I know I would be. I get to the cookout, and I don’t stop eating until I leave the cookout. But, I’m so competitive that I’m still going to participate in whatever games we’re playing no matter how full I am. But, the height that my man got on that jump suggests that he’s carrying a couple burgers with him.

But, this is also the best basketball I’ve ever seen because someone goes through a fence. It’s giving me Rhyno goring Chris Jericho through the SmackDown set vibes. Notice the stunned silence for a split second before everyone realizes our man is okay…then, it’s just uproarious laughter. This is a moment that people are never going to forget. Every time these people get together, they’re going to bring up this moment. So, be careful out there at these cookouts…or else you’ll end up going viral on the internet, then I’ll write an article about you, and your family and friends will never let you hear the end of it. Cheers!
