Rooster and I have talked about some wild shit on Phone It In, but I don’t think we’ve ever truly been stumped the way this month’s episode has stumped us. For every plausible scenario we came up with, multiple questions sprung out of it. It was like no matter which angle we took, there were three contradicting ideas that popped up instead. It was wild, and it made for a hell of an episode.
Of course, I’m talking about the famous faith healer and psychic surgeon, the “Surgeon of the Rusty Knife” himself, Zé Arigó. Born to a poor family, Arigó felt compelled (by the spirit of a German physicist or so he claimed, no less) to step in and save a relative by performing an emergency surgery and ridding her of the tumor that had all but actually taken her life. It was a miracle, and Arigó earned a reputation as a miracle worker as he continued to perform these surgeries with whatever instruments he could find around him. The craziest part of it all? It actually seemed to work – that’s where Rooster and I come into play here. As we try and unravel the mystery of “psychic surgery,” it seems like the more holes we poke in it, the harder it is to make sense of it all. This is another fun one!
