I like to think I’m a pretty open-minded guy when it comes to trying new things. I love new restaurants. I love trying new foods. Hell, I even love pairing experiences with my meals. But, it’s like anything else in life, I suppose….we can get too carried away trying to do something differently. Let’s take this Tik Tok chef that is apparently shoving bananas down peoples throats and sucking fingers at brunch for a good example of this.

Man, every day that goes by, something new pops up and it just makes me feel old. I missed the boat on this one….completely whiffed on the trend. Apparently, the kids these days want their breakfast to hit the back of their throat like a spicy Friday night out behind the Red Rooster on Demonbreun if you know what I mean. I just don’t get it. Maybe the content game is passing me by, but when did we start deep throating our brunch?
We’re just getting too far out of control with our meals these days. Have I ever had a brunch so good that it made me feel like, to quote Petey Pablo, my eyes rolled back and my toes curled? Yes. Yes, I have. But, that doesn’t mean I want to be committing sex acts with my breakfast. Does that make me lame? Oh god…I’m not cool with the younger demographic anymore?!?! Shit.
Where do we go from here? Maybe that’s the move. Try to get ahead of the next thing instead of trying to keep up with what’s happening. Maybe we all need to go get butt ass nekkid at the Waffle House and start smearing the waffles across our bare chests. Then, we’ll be the ones dictating trends and going viral.
