NFL Kickoff 2023: Chiefs-Lions Drinking Game

The NFL season is here! What better way to celebrate tonight's kickoff between the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions than with a good old SoBros Drinking Game?!?!

It’s hard to believe it – we blinked and the summer is gone, and it’s time for the NFL season to fire up. Personally, I dig this match-up we have tonight between the Detroit Lions and the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s some real outside-the-box schedule-making from the NFL, and it could lead to one of those electric factory shootouts like we saw between the Chiefs and the Rams a few years ago. It also makes for some interesting match-ups. There’s a bit of a youth movement in Detroit, as some rookies will get chances at integral roles on offense and defense. They’re expected to be the best of the bunch in the NFC North, but I think that division is going to be a lot closer than people think – regardless, it’ll be fun to watch. Meanwhile, the Chiefs are looking to enter d-word territory – that’s right…I don’t think it’s something we’ve said since the Patriots last won a Super Bowl…but, a dynasty. No matter what happens to their roster, it seems they always find a way to rebound and get back to the playoffs. Having a quarterback like Patrick Mahomes and a head coach like Andy Reid will do that for you, I suppose.

So, it’s an interesting matchup between the upstart Lions and the champion Chiefs, both fielding dynamic offenses. The Chiefs are 4.5-point favorites in this one, and honestly, I could see this game going in a number of ways, so I’m not sure I have the balls to play it right now. What I am confident in laying some money down on is that over 52.5 points. Nonetheless, as we always do here at SoBros Network, we had to get in on the drinking game for this special occasion. If you’re like me, pour up a nice cocktail, pick up a sixer of DCLs (Delicious Coors Lights), or pick your poison of choice. Sit down on the couch and celebrate with us.

Chiefs-Lions Drinking Game

TAKE A DRINK IF/WHEN…

  • They show clips of the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl. Take an additional drink every time the Lombardi Trophy is seen.
  • Another drink every time they allude to Dan Campbell being just a little bit unhinged.
  • They mention Travis Kelce‘s injury.
  • Jahmyr Gibbs or Sam LaPorta catches a pass or makes a rushing attempt.
  • These first four rules could get you alcohol poisoning alone, so here’s one to keep you hydrated: take two sips of water every time Mahomes completes a pass.
  • You hear the term “Motor City” anything.
  • Any quarterback gets sacked.
  • There’s a fumble or deflected pass. Another drink if it’s recovered by the defense.
  • Mahomes amasses 25 passing yards.
  • Jared Goff amasses 25 passing yards.
  • Isaiah Pacheco takes a ball 10 yards (rush or reception).
  • Jack Campbell or Nick Bolton makes a tackle.
  • The Chris Jones “holdout” situation is mentioned.
  • Rashee Rice catches a pass.
  • Aidan Hutchinson gets a QB hurry/pressure.
  • Justyn Ross actually gets into the game.
  • There’s a lead change. Yes, every time either team takes the lead, you take a drink.

TAKE A SHOT IF/WHEN…

  • There’s a defensive/special teams touchdown.
  • Teddy Bridgewater is wearing the #50 jersey on the sideline.
  • Amon-Ra St. Brown scores the first touchdown of the game.
  • Goff tallies 20 rushing yards.
  • They actually hit the over (52.5).
  • The Lions cover the 4.5-point spread.

As always, stay safe out there and drink responsibly! If you drink, don’t drive. Do the watermelon crawl. FOOTBALL SEASON IS HERE!
