Let’s face it – every day we are routinely bombarded with questions. When you’re an emerging media company in Nashville, people just want to know what your opinions are on everything. It’s only natural. And, since our duty is to serve the people, well, we have no choice but to be present. That’s the SoBro Way. Also, aren’t mailbags just a barrel of laughs anyway? Welcome to the newest weekly recurring feature up in this bitch: The SoBros Mailbag. As always, hit us with those mailbag questions @SoBrosNetwork on Twitter, email ’em to me anonymously at thesobrosnetwork@gmail.com. And, holy shit, I need to update this terrible intro paragraph that I’ve been using literally ever since I started writing this column…
Question:
If you had to carve a fruit/vegetable besides a Pumpkin for Halloween, what would it be and why?
— Eldon English (@shrike113) October 26, 2023
Answer:
I hate carving pumpkins. It’s tedious, and it makes my wrist hurt. That’s why I’m going with a bell pepper because I think it’d be easy to carve, but it’s still hollow inside so I might could put a little tea light candle in it.
Question:
In the spirit of Haunted House season. What is the best way out of this House of Horrors Vrabel has put the Titans in with this fake rebuild? In other words, what is the best outcome for the season at this point? A hit at QB with Levis? A tanked season?
— Kenneth (@TexasSports1015) October 26, 2023
Answer:
I think it’s certainly a hit at quarterback with Will Levis. If Levis is who many thought he could be, then it clears up the future of this franchise and allows the Titans to begin building around him. But, the list of needs is long. Franchise left tackles don’t usually hit free agency. Franchise corners don’t usually hit free agency. It feels like a cliché at this point, but it rings true….you build through the draft. The reality is that this team needs picks in rounds where the talent selected will make a real difference. So, if Levis is a hit, you don’t need to worry about the quarterback position, and if you’re able to pick up a third, or maybe even another second, round pick, you’ll be alright. I would feel pretty good about that foundation. Levis is your guy. You draft a left tackle and a cornerback high. You spend your free agency money on a linebacker, pass rush help, offensive line depth, and more weapons to surround Levis with, and I think it’s the start of something good.
I think people overvalue early draft picks. Theoretically, yes, you should get a difference-maker in the top five. But, it doesn’t always pan out that way, and so you can’t necessarily bank on the fact that just because the Titans land a top five pick, they’ll be a Super Bowl contender in a few seasons. You can find difference-makers throughout the draft. You just have to do your due diligence. Also, hey man – maybe this thing turns around! It’s only 2-4! Who knows what could happen next?
Question:
What is your favorite Halloween movie? (Not the franchise, just any Halloween related movie)
— Grizzler (@GrizzWizz24) October 26, 2023
Answer:
Grizzler, it depends on the day you ask me. I’m a sucker for the original Halloween, the film that started it all. But, I also really like 2010’s Benecio Del Toro Wolfman and Sleepy Hollow. I don’t like the outright horror and gore – give me something that has real spooky Halloween vibes and a good story to go with it.
