I know it’s Tuesday and I’m super late catching up on all of this stuff. I missed the open practice at Nissan Stadium on Saturday because I was up in the Smoky Mountains introducing a friend to the majesty of Gatlinburg. We opted to take a quick trip out to Cades Cove not realizing it would take nearly four hours out of our Saturday. I had absolutely no service until we returned to civilization, and when we did, I was pleasantly surprised to see that quarterback Malik Willis had apparently won the starting quarterback job for the Tennessee Titans. So long, Will Levis. It was fun while it lasted. It was one of the few cases where I felt like all of the media and fans in attendance were in line with one another – the third-year quarterback had a damn good day.
There will be Malik Willis articles written about today’s practice. He earned it.

*Geoffrey Rush voice* “You best start believing in Malik Willis articles, Easton – you’re in one!” This is the right approach to this practice though. Let the man have his moment when people are singing his praises. I couldn’t wait to see what had happened throughout the practice to make people so high on the guy, and thankfully, Sean McEvoy pieced some clips together to highlight some of Willis’ work.

Honestly, people will say it’s just practice, and they’re right in the sense that doing this in practice is completely different from doing it in a regular season NFL game come Sundays in the Fall. But, this is how momentum builds. It starts in the summer and carries into the season. Guys start stacking days like this, and who knows where it could go? If Willis does actually develop into something beyond what we’ve seen so far, it will be gravy. But, for all of us who have been overly critical of the guy, let’s just let him have a good solid victory lap for now.
