Another month, another rousing episode of Drinking With…Steven McCash to promote! This month, I had the joy and privilege to experience 2003’s iconic romantic comedy, Something’s Gotta Give, for the first time in my life. For as long as we’ve been doing SoBros Network, there have been lists and rankings. Any time we get into the rom-com talk, this movie comes up in conversation as one of the all-time greats. For good reason, I say! The chemistry between Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton is electric. The film tackles the dire prospects of dating as you’re aging in a cute way, but it’s our two leads who really hammer home the heart in this film. Our cocktail of choice for this episode was the classic gin martini, appropriate given how many our characters slung back throughout the movie. Oh, and this movie also gave us the dick nickname of ‘Mr. Midnight,’ which I’ll be henceforth using for the rest of my life. Enjoy!
To make the classic gin martini, you’ll need:
-2 1/2oz dry Gin
-1/2 oz dry vermouth
-1-2 dashes of orange bitters
-Lemon twist or olive for garnish
Directions:
- Fill mixing glass with ice
- Add gin, vermouth and bitters
- Stir not shake for about 30 seconds until well chilled and strain into a chilled martini glass
- Add desired garnish
