Welcome all degenerate gamblers back into our weekly American football betting column here on the SoBros Network Patreon, Tank the 401k. Call your bookie and empty those retirement accounts (actually, don’t really do that – this is just sarcasm. Our lawyers say we shouldn’t claim to be experts on anything because we’re not)! Each week, the SoBros team up to offer their five locks of the week – obviously, we’re not professionals here so take this advice with a grain of salt and don’t sue us if you piss all of your money away. That’s not our fault. Okay, I think we’re all set here – here are this week’s SoBros gambling picks.

Stoney’s Picks

Damn, what a start to the season! 4-1 to kick things off, but I’m actually hating the board this week. Week 2 is such a barren wasteland of college football. There are a few games out there for you if you look for ’em, but it’s a real sicko’s weekend. I’ll do the best I can, folks.

  • Iowa -2.5 – I’m buying in on the Hawkeyes. 40 points in Week 1. They’ve discovered the forward pass! This is going to be a dangerous team with its elite defense this season. Iowa State will prove to be a formidable opponent, but give me Iowa by a field goal.
  • Tennessee -7.5 – Yeah, McCash and I are both on board with this one. What he said.
  • Kansas -5.5 – The Jayhawks look as prolific as ever while Illinois trends in the opposite direction. Kansas continues the dark horse playoff team march.
  • Alabama -29.5 – Kalen DeBoer has that offense cooking and I won’t be surprised to see the players treat this like a revenge game after how last year’s game against South Florida went down.
  • Titans +4.5 – I usually stay away from Week 1 in the NFL, but I can’t resist this one. The Titans are being way undervalued in this matchup, one that they have the personnel to beat the Bears with outright.

McCash’s Picks

A last second missed walk-off field goal by Minnesota is what kept me from going 5-0 in week 1 of the college football season. This week I feel that the games I am selecting will not be close enough for a field goal to determine a win or loss.

  • Tennessee -7.5 -Nico and company looked as good as advertised last week against UT Chattanooga and will continue to make a statement to them being a contender for a playoff spot. NC State struggled to beat Western Carolina after giving up 361 yards of total offense to the Catamounts leaving the Vols offense licking their lips for a shot at the Wolfpack defense.
  • UTSA ML -Texas St. is one of the favorites to win the Sun Belt this year but they’ll need a better second half to take down the Road Runners of UTSA. Texas St. was up 18-0 at the half against Lamar but was outscored 27-16 in the second frame. The Bobcats pulled out the win but that kind of performance will not get you past an offense like UTSA. Owen McCown had a great day for the Road Runners throwing for 340 yards and 3 scores in their season opener against Kennesaw State. The wrong team is favored in this one and UTSA will win outright.
  • Texas/Michigan O42.5 -Michigan is still trying to figure out who their quarterback is and that will keep them from pulling the upset while their defense will struggle to stop Quinn Ewers from making big plays. Texas’ last 4 games have gone over and 3 of Michigan’s last 5 have. I can easily see this being a 27-20 type of game.
  • Memphis -18.5 -The Tigers did not looking dominating in their 40-0 season opener against North Alabama but Seth Henigan threw for over 300 yards and connected with 9 different receivers. The injury to starting running back Sutton Smith will force the Tigers to rely more on their passing game which could lead to faster tempo that does not suite well for Troy. At the end of the day Memphis is fighting for a playoff spot and must put up some big numbers to impress the voting committee.
  • Oklahoma -29.5 – Houston is under a major rebuild under first year head coach Willie Fritz and the Cougars are facing a 0-2 start to the year in the face as they take on the Sooners. Jackson Arnold and Deion Burks connected for 3 touchdowns but were outshined by the Oklahoma defense which forced 6 turnovers in their win against Temple last week. Houston had 2 turnovers against Nevada last week and the Sooners D will chomping at the bit to get more.
