Let’s face it – every day we are routinely bombarded with questions. When you’re an emerging media company in Nashville, people just want to know what your opinions are on everything. It’s only natural. And, since our duty is to serve the people, well, we have no choice but to be present. That’s the SoBro Way. Also, aren’t mailbags just a barrel of laughs anyway? Welcome to the newest weekly recurring feature up in this bitch: The SoBros Mailbag. As always, hit us with those mailbag questions @SoBrosNetwork on Twitter, email ’em to me anonymously at thesobrosnetwork@gmail.com. And, holy shit, I need to update this terrible intro paragraph that I’ve been using literally ever since I started writing this column…
Question:
Urinal Us-ies or Lotion Boyz, which is the weirdest
— Zach Lyons (@TheZachLyons) January 23, 2025
Answer:
It’s gotta be ‘Lotion Boyz’ because there isn’t a lot of context for that on the internet. I mean the Urinal Us-ies was fine. It was funny. Everyone got a good laugh at it, and it was as simple as that. That’s all the context you needed. But, when we say “the Lotion Boyz are back,” I don’t know if people even remember that, and I don’t know that we ever added context to that beyond the initial nicknaming. So, like…if you just hear “we’re the Lotion Boyz” in passing, you might perk up and think “wtf?” That’s why I think it’s weirder.
Question:
Where did this Emila Perez movie come from and is it possibly a psyop
— Uncle Madd (@Uncle_Madd) January 23, 2025
Answer:
I don’t know, Uncle Madd! I haven’t watched it yet. I know it had some critical acclaim, but it’s a pretty controversial film as well. I didn’t hear too many people in my social circle even talking about the film, so I let it fly under the radar. Now, I need to catch up since it’s received so many Oscar noms. I don’t know, man. I just don’t know.
Question:
Who are some late round guys from smaller schools that you are excited about? Guys that most Titans fans may not know about?
— Teddy (@TeddyyBrooks) January 23, 2025
David Walker, Upton Stout, Bihal Kone, Charles Grant, etc.
Answer:
Those are all good examples, Teddy – I LOVE me some David Walker. I mean, that dude is a game wrecker that plays with speed and power, but also has the tool kit to rush the passer in different ways. I’m a fan of Grant too. Both of those guys looked dominant at their level of competition. Now, it’s just a matter of seeing if they can do it against guys who are more consistently at their level. I haven’t watched Upton Stout or Bilhal Kone yet, but I know Zach is intrigued by Stout, and our buddy James Foster put out a tweet about Kone recently saying he was pretty intrigued by him too. So, both of those guys have some clout with people whose opinion I respect.
Harold Fannin Jr. (the TE out of Bowling Green) has been a really fun watch as well. He looks like he could be a weapon in the passing game up the seam. I also like OT Grey Zabel out of North Dakota State. They always seem to churn offensive linemen, and he has some chops like the rest of ’em. I’m also going to throw OL Clay Webb from Jacksonville State into the conversation as well. His reputation as an ass beater precedes him, and I’m always a sucker for an OL that doesn’t wear gloves. Hoping to see him get some reps at center at the Senior Bowl next week.
Question:
The word generational player is getting thrown around now after the titans presser yesterday. Is there a generational player is this yr draft?
— T.K. (@Tbull22) January 23, 2025
Answer:
Great question, TK. I don’t hate the term ‘generational’ as unyieldingly as others do. I just think we need to frame things in the appropriate context. For example, generational talents don’t always end up being generational players (see: Anthony Richardson (to this point)). I don’t mind people calling Travis Hunter a generational talent – the testing throughout the draft process will determine if the eye test is accurate, but the guy can fly. No doubt about that. Whether or not he will translate to a generational player at the next level is pure projection. So many things go into that other than just simply talent. I mean, even for a guy like Patrick Mahomes. He had the talent, but he lands with one of the greatest coaches in NFL history in Andy Reid, who had a stable of quality assistants who have been plucked away for bigger jobs. They’re a well-drafting organization that has put forth quality offensive lines. Their defense has a knack for showing up in opportune moments. And, yeah – having a run game and guys like Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill have helped him actually see the talent through to the full vision of a ‘generational player.’ All of that stuff is so hard to predict at this stage in a player’s career. In that context, I say ‘no’ – there isn’t a generational player in this draft. But, if I may frame it differently, I think there are generational talents who could become generational players if they land in the right spot – Hunter and Abdul Carter. That’s about as far as I’m willing to go with the “g” word.
Question:
Who you liking to win this weekend’s NFC and AFC Championship games? And why?
— Ed Helinski 🇺🇸🇵🇱 🌴 (@MrEd315) January 23, 2025
Answer:
I think we’re in for a Philadelphia-Buffalo Super Bowl, but I’m hoping I’m wrong on the NFC side of that equation. The Eagles are just overwhelmingly talented in the trenches and should be able to control the clock with that run game. The Chiefs always seem to find a way in the playoffs, but this should be Buffalo’s year. If we’re going on how these two teams have played in recent weeks, the Bills should outmatch the Chiefs.
Question:
Kill, marry, fuck: black coffee, latte, hot tea
— eddie (@wondernomma) January 23, 2025
Answer:
As much as I love coffee, I can’t do it black. Just leaves the WORST taste in my mouth. So, I’m killing black coffee. I like lattes but they’re a little too heavy for me on a regular basis. I’m going to fuck them. I can’t live without my hot tea. My wife and I have a cup just about every night to wind down for the evening, and I need it to keep my voice going for all these podcasts I be doing.
Question:
Top three classic uni’s for all teams.
— Drew Harrison (@achslemp) January 23, 2025
Also, what would your solution for the rt be?!
Answer:
- Tennessee Oilers
- Seattle Seahawks
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
As for my solution at right tackle….I lean “sign Jedrick Wills” because of his experience with Bill Callahan, and I just don’t think there’s a good convergence of conditions to spend an early round pick on a right tackle. In other words, they don’t have a third, and there might not be one worth taking over another player in the second. Bring in Wills, and draft a developmental guy later on.
Question:
No, nope, Hell Naw, take a chop from Gunther, a stinkface from Rikishi, orbs kick in the nuts from Rhea?
— Titans Homer (@smorton101368) January 23, 2025
Answer:
No – take a chop from Gunther
Nope – a stinkface from Rikishi
Hell Naw – the option that probably keeps me from having kids one day.
Question:
Where does Del Frisco’s rank in your Nashville restaurant rankings now that you’ve been there?
— McCash (@MC_Cash75) January 23, 2025
Answer:
I’m kind of surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I had admittedly written it off because I knew it was a chain, but man, Saturday night was one of the best dinners I’ve had in quite some time. I just reviewed my list, and I think I’m sliding it in right after Dino’s in the ‘elite’ category.
