Hello, and welcome in to the latest edition of Yankee Candle Reviews here on SoBros Network. I will be your host – the Fragrance Aficionado of SoBros Network, also the EIC, Stoney Keeley. My passion for Yankee Candle began in 2006, when I strolled into the location in Providence Marketplace in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. I picked up a jar of Autumn Woods, and found it captured the essence of the season perfectly. I’ve been hooked in this…well, you could even call it ‘romantic…’ relationship with Yankee Candle ever since. Today, we’re smelling the clean and pure Balsam & Clove

Nothing beats a good winter candle from Yankee Candle. I don’t know if it’s the challenge of finding one on your own given that they don’t outright market things as “winter candles” or what. But, the thrill of the chase is invigorating. It’s a tricky time of year to me – the sweet Cinnamony Christmasy stuff just won’t cut it. Once the holidays are over, I’m ready to move on. Can’t get stuck in the past wishing it would go by slower, y’know? But, January isn’t exactly spring time weather yet either. It’s not time for the fresh florals of the season. So, you have to get a little creative – for me, it’s Hot Buttered Rum, Sparkling Snow, Winter Night Stars, and stuff like that. Stuff that has a nice warming effect, a “fresh snow” effect, or “fresh air” effect. Balsam & Clove fits the bill. There’s a tad bit of spice to this one in the clove, but it’s nowhere near as overbearing as it is in some of these holiday fragrances. More so, it’s an upfront current of fresh air – like being in the forest during a hard winter’s snow. That makes it perfect for this time of the year.

Recommended Burning: Snow gently falls, accumulating quietly on the windowsill. A fire burns purely in your living room, crackling and popping behind you. The sky is gray, and the only light you’re receiving is from the reflection in the snow on the ground. You stick your tongue out to the window, fantasizing about running through the yard like a centaur, tongue collecting snowflakes by the dozens. You feel goosebumps along your arms and realize your bare ass is out. The neighbors can probably see it through the window, but you don’t mind. If they see anything they don’t want to, it’s their problem to deal with – serves them right for looking into your window anywhere. You think back to being a centaur, and that is doing some weird things to your body. So, you decide to shut the blinds and have some “alone time.” That’s when you light Balsam & Clove.
