Let’s face it – every day we are routinely bombarded with questions. When you’re an emerging media company in Nashville, people just want to know what your opinions are on everything. It’s only natural. And, since our duty is to serve the people, well, we have no choice but to be present. That’s the SoBro Way. Also, aren’t mailbags just a barrel of laughs anyway? Welcome to the newest weekly recurring feature up in this bitch: The SoBros Mailbag. As always, hit us with those mailbag questions @SoBrosNetwork on Twitter, email ’em to me anonymously at thesobrosnetwork@gmail.com. And, holy shit, I need to update this terrible intro paragraph that I’ve been using literally ever since I started writing this column…
Question:
I know we've all said and made a big deal that the GM and HC aren't on the same timeframe. But what if they are. Hear me out. When did Brinker get named to his new role of god-emperor of football? Last year. When did BC get hired? Last year.
— eddie (@wondernomma) March 20, 2025
Answer:
That’s what I’m saying, man! This whole time, we’ve been looking at it all wrong. I don’t think this is as crazy as it may sound to some.
Question:
Do you have concerns about drafting a qb and then firing his HC a year in. Would it not be better to try and get the HC and qb in the same cycle? Rather than forcing a marriage.
— eddie (@wondernomma) March 20, 2025
Answer:
I do generally agree with getting the HC and QB on the same timeline, but the further we get into this offseason, the more I’m coming around on the idea that this could effectively be Year 1 for Brian Callahan. If we’re to believe that the organization felt strongly enough about Ran Carthon’s moves as general manager, then the logic stands to reason that Callahan could only do so much with such a dire personnel situation. At least if I was Brian Callahan, that’s what I’d be saying! So, if that’s the case, then maybe they’re treating this offseason as Brian’s chance to go pick his quarterback. It can work.
Question:
How does one smoke a pipe without looking douchey if they don't have a massive beard or be 70 years old.
— eddie (@wondernomma) March 20, 2025
Answer:
Who cares about lookin’ douchey, Eddie?!?! I say “live your life and fuck the haters.” Pipes rule. No one should deprive themselves of the experience because they fear it looks douchey. Personally, I don’t think it looks douchey anyway.
Question:
What holes by position are left to fill by the Titans, either by more free agent signings, the draft, trades, or undrafted free agent signings?
— Ed Helinski 🇺🇸🇵🇱 🌴 (@MrEd315) March 20, 2025
Answer:
By my count, Ed, I’ve got it like this:
- Quarterback
- Wide Receiver
- Edge Rusher
- Another Edge Rusher
- Another Receiver
- Linebacker
- Cornerback
- Safety
- Depth everywhere
Question:
Favorite day 3 fit? Could be any position
— Draft Jayden Higgins (@chadtwinker) March 20, 2025
Answer:
I’m torn between Isaac TeSlaa at wide receiver, Miles Frazier at right guard, and Femi Oladejo at EDGE.
Question:
What’s been weighing on your mind this week? Anything inspiring you? Projects you want to work on?
— Titan Travis (@Titantravis08) March 20, 2025
Answer:
Man, you caught me at a weird time, Travis. I’ve been feeling particularly frustrated the last couple of weeks from a creative standpoint – I have a few projects that I really want to dig into. For one, volume 2 of the poetry book is laughably close to being finished. I mean, if I could set aside a morning, I could probably have that thing knocked out and published. I also started a Yankee Candle poetry book about a year ago that I haven’t really touched in months at this point. And, I’ve had an outline for a novel that I fleshed out last summer that I still haven’t gotten started on. I can’t get any of that stuff rolling because I’m so behind on my draft coverage and it’s driving me nuts.
I know this is a little “first world problems,” but several projects at my day job have had me working overtime hours the likes of which I’ve never seen. The rush started at the end of September, and it’s just now letting up. The other morning I was sitting there, numbly staring out my office window, thinking about all of the hours of film study I’ve lost this cycle because of this stupid day job that I have to work because I can’t pay my bills and buy groceries off of what I make writing. I don’t know if you could tell on Football & Other F Words the other night when Zach brought up the draft guide, but I felt anger surge through me on that couch when I said, “we’re fucked.” I’m disappointed for a couple of reasons – for one, I want to make sure I’m delivering the best I can for anyone who thinks highly enough of my work to donate a portion of their day to it. I want it to be at 1000%. For another, I just love doing it, and I hate the idea that wasting away at a day job is taking the opportunity to do what I love away from me.
Sorry to spill my guts like this – you can probably tell this frustration has been boiling up within me for weeks now. I just want to grind tape, put on a podcast or write an article that is worth everyone’s time, and then I want to smoke my pipe and write stories. I haven’t been able to do that in six months now! It’s beginning to wear me down. I need a fucking vacation.
