At nearly 39 years old, I’ve reached an age at which I remember how much I was into something as a kid without actually remembering said thing. Every now and then, a video clip, an old commercial, an old ad from a magazine, or something like that will come along and remind me of what was actually going on in those things I was into throughout my formative years. Today, that “something” is this video clip showing Bam Margera hanging on to a hot air balloon for far longer than he should have.

This 30-second clip is LOADED with Hall of Fame level quotes – “let go let go let go lego legolegolego….you ass,” “oh Phil, pull him down,” “make sure somebody is filming,” and “the things he does to himself are worse than the things he does to me.” Make no mistake about it…this is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen. And, yet – I couldn’t look away and I was laughing the whole time. It’s no wonder so many men my age are fucked up. This is what we watched for entertainment!
It served as a nice trip down Memory Lane. I can remember getting together with my friends as a teenager after we watched the most recent episode of Jackass. We talked about our favorite “stunts” and thought we’d be cool and try to design “stunts” of our own. I remember running as fast as I could into a six foot snowman we built and bouncing right off of it because it had set all day and formed a giant block of ice. We were so cool. Those were the days.
Do you know what would happen if I tried any of that Jackass stuff now? If I get any more concussions, I’m done for. My knees crack when I get out of bed in the morning and this shit is why. Anyway, happy Friday – TGIF! Hope you’ve enjoyed this nice look back into the past as much as I have.
