How terrifying is the idea that a lake can just randomly blow up? Well, it’s only happened a couple of times throughout recorded history, and one of those occasions occurred at Lake Nyos in Cameroon. In 1986, the lake “erupted,” sending a massive cloud of toxic gas into the air. It came to rest in the nearby valley, killing people and animals alike. It was a devastating tragedy for the area. On the latest episode of Phone It In, Rooster and I dive into the incident, what may have caused it, and how it’s been addressed in order to hopefully prevent something like it from happening again.
