Titans at Broncos: NFL DFS Advice

  • Expect this game to play UNDER to AROUND 40 to 40.5. Both teams are similar in that they prioritize defense. Both offenses have high tendency to fade when they’re inside the opponent 30s. This leads to field goals. The Titans are coming off a Week 5 loss where they missed four field goals. They have yet to surrender more than 20 points in a game. That trend should continue.
  • Denver has two good running backs with RB Lindsay and RB Freeman. Both of them splitting touches about 50-50 means that their ceilings are limited. The Titans defense has surrendered some big runs at the end of games. If that were to happen again, Lindsay has the better chance of making that big run. Even at his slightly higher price (5300 to Freeman’s 4500), Lindsay has the most upside.
  • Titans RB Henry poses a threat to Denver’s inconsistent run defense. Two weeks ago, Denver allowed Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette to rush for 225 yards. Last week, the Los Angeles Chargers rushed for a team total of 35 yards. Henry’s limited use as a receiver will always limit his upside.
  • Outside of veteran CB Chris Harris Jr., cornerback depth has become an issue. With Bryce Callahan remaining out and De’Vante Bausby getting placed on injured reserve, the team appears forced into playing Isaac Yiadom. Yiadom has been benched in three of his five starts. He hasn’t been a good fit in Broncos head coach’s Vic Fangio’s zone scheme.

The Titans could exploit this. Since Harris figures to spend most of his time covering Titans WR Davis, Yiadom would probably see Titans WR Brown. Brown has been establishing himself as the offense’s most productive wide receiver. The Titans could choose to emphasize SWR Humphries as his skill-set is better used against zone-based schemes.

My problem with these players is that they don’t get much volume. Brown could offset that because of his cheap salary to go with the ability for big yardage plays ($4200). That said, it’s possible that he ends up as the No. 3 or even No. 4 option in a slow paced game at Denver’s altitude. RB Henry, TE Walker, and possibly SWR Humphries are in better positions. That doesn’t even account for WR Davis. The other issue is that Yiadom should get help. Proceed with caution.
  • Always consider the Denver altitude when playing opposing offensive players. It could have some impact on their stamina.
  • I’d avoid either defense. Neither quarterback is turnover prone enough. Neither team should get held below seven points.
  • For DFS purposes, this game is meh. There are many players with ceilings around the teens to lower-20s (e.g. WRs Sanders & Sutton). Lindsay is solid. He’s not going off for a 50 or anything like that. But if you’re filling out that last player in the FLEX, Lindsay has enough upside to get into the 20s. He’s an underrated player. It’s just a matter of getting enough exposure when Freeman is healthy.
