Big time shout out to u/chronage on Reddit for this one today, because this is JUST the sort of wild speculation that I’m here for. Even though the consensus on the Nashville subReddit appears to be that I am a trash ass blogger, I have to give credit where credit is due – I relate to the jaded ass OG Nashvillians that occupy the forum, and appreciate the work they do on cases such as this one. They don’t call it ‘the front page of the internet’ for nothin’ folks. Thanks to the hard work of u/chronage, we know have a significant clue, I dare say the MOST significant clue we’ve ever had, that Raising Cane’s is eyeing a launch in the Nashville area. That’s because of a job posting on LinkedIn, on which Raising Cane’s is looking for an Area Director based out of *gasp* – you guessed it – Nashville, Tennessee.
The Area Director provides strategic direction for the team of Managing Partners (MPs) & General Managers(GMs) and acts as the primary support for the MPs & GMs in his/her designated area. The Area Director must convey the Cane’s culture to his/her staff and be a creative team player who likes to work hard, have fun, and show sincere dedication to Raising Cane’s.
I’ll be honest with you guys – I have no idea what an Area Director does. And, I have no idea how these huge corporations operate. Like…on the surface, you would think, “why the hell would they be looking for an Area Director in an area that they don’t plan to occupy?” Pretty reasonable, no? But, what if they just want someone in Nashville because it’s centrally-located and that person can get to nearly anywhere in the midwest or southwest within a couple of hours? What if the Area Director of Nashville is literally the only employee in Nashville, and he/she just has a massive penthouse office all to his or her self? Again, I don’t know how these things work. Regardless, the idea of not having to drive to Kentucky to get that Cane’s sauce smeared all over my bare chest is completely arousing. I love it. I would say not to get your hopes up about this, Nashville, but again…I’m nothing if not transparent on this website….I’m beyond that point. I am going to be devastated now if we don’t get a Cane’s or two or five nearby.
I first discovered Raising Cane’s on a road trip to an indie wrestling show just north of Louisville. It was one of those things that was so hyped up by so many people that I was convinced in my mind that there was no way it could live up to the hype. I didn’t think I would like it…just on principle…because yes, I am that type of asshole. If everyone likes something, I already don’t like it, having not even tried it. But, I gotta tell y’all today – my fuck, is that some good chicken.
It seems as though there’s a war between Raising Cane’s and Zaxby’s – it’s not unlike the Civil War. You have to have an allegiance – there is no middle ground. I’m big time Team Cane’s, though I will acknowledge that Zaxby’s is great if it’s all you have. The tiebreaker for me isn’t the Cane’s sauce, as it is with many of us here on Team Cane’s. I love the Zax Sauce, so it’s not that big of a deal to me. What does it for me is the bread – it’s so fluffy and toasty, and different from just a slab of Texas Toast that so many establishments trot out on their basket of tendies. Always order extra bread with your tendies – that’s the vet move. Raising Cane’s actually lived up to the monumental hype, and I feel like that rarely happens in my life. Even if I do like something that everyone likes, I don’t want to admit it out of spite. But, I will gladly admit this on this fine day.
