Nothing Says March Madness Like Literal Street Riots

Man, oh man is March Madness heating up, or what? I mean, we’ve seen insane buzzer beaters, some Cinderella Gamecocks, and whatever this shit was:

And, to top it all off, now we have the obligatory fan base riots after a traditional college basketball powerhouse has been knocked out of the tournament:

Courtesy of CBS Sports:

Kentucky Wildcats fans were anguished after their team suffered a last-second loss to No. 1 seed North Carolina in the Elite Eight on Sunday afternoon. And they rioted in the streets — no, literally, they rioted — to show their anger after coming up short to the Tar Heels.

A Twitter account ‘HLPublicSafety,’ ran by the Lexington Herald-Leader, documented the scene at length in which Kentucky fans and college students torched shirts, couches and televisions to let out their frustrations.

Look, let’s address the elephant in the room right away. Yes, I’m writing this article as a fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. I realize that our fanbase is not exactly the most gifted or civilized. Still, gotta have a whole new sense of respect for these Kentucky fans.

Just going absolute ape shit because they got bounced at the last second by a school with National Championship aspirations in the Elite Eight. Like….guys….that’s still a good season….why?

It’s tough to be a Kentucky fan. The Wildcats were seconds away from a Final Four, and made it to their sixth Elite Eight since Calipari took over in 2009 this season. But Big Blue Nation riots in the streets afterward, because it’s title or bust in Lexington. And apparently the bust includes burning everything in sight.

Title or bust – now we know. Makes sense, to be honest, but when did the couches enter the equations? When did burning couches become a symbol of unrest? I mean, just burn something else – why waste a good couch?

Also, I absolutely love this moment:

Imagine – you’re having a good time, lighting some random shit on fire, partying and just generally rampaging with your bros then out of nowhere comes this beer can. It came in like a damn meteor, which you can clearly see from my fine illustration.

Either,

a) The can flew past our homie in the striped shirt and hit the person next to him.

-or-

b) This dude was so blowed he didn’t even feel that can take a chunk of his face off.

Regardless, it was gold. Keep winning, Kentucky fans.
