The Saga Is Over: Adrian Peterson Is a New Orleans Saint

Holy shit. My immediate first thought is of a Saints offense led by Drew Brees, with Mark Ingram and Peterson in the backfield. Willie Snead and Michael Thomas out wide, and Coby Fleener at tight end. That’s a dangerous group. Of course, it’s all not 2012. So, yeah – some of these guys are getting on up there in age. But, still – that’s a talented offense. They could stand to invest in the offensive line a bit, but this

The window is closing on this explosive Saints offense, so I look at this move as a last push to get back to the Super Bowl. It very well could pan out, but the NFC South is going to be an absolute gauntlet. It may be the toughest division to win in the NFL this season. The Atlanta Falcons are coming off of a Super Bowl appearance. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are ascending, and the Carolina Panthers are going to be a threat as long as they have Cam Newton. It’s a tall task, but one that the Saints are trying to make easier.

Plus, this move also frees up draft capital. That Saints defense was atrocious, and it’s in need of a total rebuild. They may add some offensive linemen and another playmaker or two, but for the most part, this should be a defense-heavy draft.

But, this move on its own? I like it. Can’t wait for the season to start.
