The 2019 NBA offseason has undoubtedly been one for the ages.
I don’t think I can remember a time when more major moves were made that completely changed the landscape of the NBA. But, that’s exactly what we got this summer – a paradigm shift. Not only did teams get better through the draft, but a plethora of trades and free agent acquisitions made for one of the most exciting offseasons in recent sports memory.
Anthony Davis was shipped out to join LeBron James on the Los Angeles Lakers. The Los Angeles Clippers won the Kawhi Leonard sweepstakes, and paired him up with Paul George to boot. James Harden and Russell Westbrook are reuniting for the Houston Rockets. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are set to star for the Brooklyn Nets. How are all of these moves going to shape the NBA in the next couple of years?
Plus, there’s an undertow of sneaky good moves like Jimmy Butler to the Miami Heat and Mike Conley to the Utah Jazz that are worth talking about.
That’s not even to mention young teams that are rebuilding…teams like the Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans who could become forces in the Western Conference in a few years’ time.
