Don’t Trust a Fallen Tree Draped Across a Creek

I’m an adventurous guy, so I can certainly relate to the feeling of wonderment and excitement when you find an opportunity to have some big time fun with Mother Nature. I mean, nature is natural…so you don’t have to put in any work to make fun happen. You see a vine hanging from a tree? All you have to do is swing from it, brother! Giant mushrooms growing out of the ground? All you have to do is kick ’em, sister! You find a dead possum at the volleyball park, and buddy, you can set that volleyball aside. Get what I’m saying? Yeah, so I can see how one would come across a fallen tree over a creek and think, “ah man – we should climb this!”

Well, I’m here, as a journalist, to report the facts and only the facts. In this case, it looks like trying to play jungle gym on a tree trunk could be a bad idea.

Yikes. It looks like that tree was either hollowed out and decaying from the inside out, or it was actually made out of styrofoam. It’s too hard to tell. But, regardless, it gives out like Sycho Sid’s leg coming off the top rope. I’m pretty sure al dente macaroni would’ve provided better support.

But, at least this lady landed safely in the water. Look at the poor old dude who was on top of the tree above dry land. The guy is sucking wind, and then he ends up in the water anyway. Whoever filming is obviously in terror at the whole scene, and for good reason. He/she thought he/she was watching her friends, or some complete strangers he/she was filming because he/she saw something like this unfolding, die.

Unless they fell into a nest of water moccasins, I think they’re okay. About the only positive to come out of this story is that, thankfully, the failure and misery of others is super hilarious.
