No Bigger Power Move Than Dropping ‘CIAO’ on People

Let’s be honest with ourselves here for a minute, people. We all look for ways to exert our power on a daily basis. Everyone wants to stand up for what they believe in and prove that they run shit. It’s just human nature – whether we’re right or wrong, we want to be heard, damn it! But, it’s hard to find those little social engineering tricks that help us become ‘boss ass bitches,’ as the kids are saying these days. Thankfully, some kid named Ryan has presented a new key to this mystery:

I don’t know Ryan, but I can tell immediately that he is Team GSD. Serious business only, if you didn’t hear. No qualms with putting the paparazzi right in their damn place. But, he’s still going to show a tender side, too. Even with a new hair cut and a new style entirely, he’s smooth as hell. Tell him what it is, son!

So, what can we learn from Ryan here?

I noticed a couple of things. First, it’s that the more authoritatively you pronounce something, the more emphasis you place on a word, the more final it becomes. In saying ‘CIAO’ in this manner, Ryan’s message is both ‘good bye’ and ‘I’m done wit dis bullshit’ at the same time. He’s taking command of the situation, but not in an overbearing manner.

Second, the hand wave. Making sure that you hear his message -AND- see it, too. Wow – he’s calm, cool, and in complete control of the conversation. Ryan is brilliant.
