Damn Coyotes and Their Hanging Out on City Neighborhood Rooftops

When I was in high school, my parents converted our two car garage into my bedroom. It had its own door, so my friends and I always had our own way in and out. It was awesome. But, at the same time, it was kind of creepy. You could open the door, take 10 paces, and be at the edge of hundreds of acres of woods. One night, I was trying to sleep when I heard a noise outside. I went to check it out, but when I opened the door, I froze seeing a pack of coyotes, at least six, staring right at me. Since then, coyotes creep me out. Like, they should have eaten me – but they didn’t. Had I waited any longer, maybe they would have. Anyway, there’s a new story that feeds my dislike for coyotes:

Courtesy of Action News Jax:

A coyote in a west Chicago neighborhood is making quite a spectacle of himself, hanging out on a roof top.

The animal has been spotted around a home in the city’s Austin neighborhood, and residents told ABC 7that it likes to sit on the roof.

That’s not going over very well with neighbors, who are afraid the coyote will go after their dogs.

ABC 7 reported that animal control has been called to help catch the wily coyote.

Many urban areas across the U.S. have seen an uptick in coyote populations in recent years. The canines are usually afraid of people, but will venture into more populated areas to look for food.

You know, it’s one thing for this dangerous creature to be lurking around on rooftops, but it’s an entirely separate issue that he’s making “quite a spectacle” of himself while he’s at it. What a dick. Just showboatin’ about all because he’s a wild animal that isn’t a bird and managed to get on a roof.

Maybe they should check out whose house he’s hanging out at, though. Maybe it’s his place? Are coyotes legal pets? Could the owners have tamed one and named it Yotey? Like, coyote without the co? That’s a cute name for your coyote, I think.

This is a disaster waiting to happen, though. Something tells me animal control people aren’t used to chasing coyotes on rooftops. I can’t wait for next week’s headline: “animal control falls through someone’s roof chasing a coyote.”
