Nashville Woman Who Tried to Report Her Car Thief Boyfriend Is the Exact Opposite of ‘ride or Die’

Have you ever looked at your significant other and wondered, “how would this person respond should I decide to rob the Nashville airport of a car?” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked across the room and thought this very thought. So, I assume that means it’s pretty normal, no?

We all want a ‘ride or die.’ That one person that would drive through the depths of hell itself just to be with us. If for some reason I’m ever single again, I’m going to be more direct and forward with my intentions to find said ‘ride or die.’ First date, I’m asking, “do you want to go murder someone?” just to see how ‘ride or die’ she is. I should’ve done that six years ago with the relationship I’m in now, because I still don’t really know. But, hey – lessons learned, right?

Anyway, one Nashville woman has induced a major blow on those who really want to push the limits of what ‘ride or die’ really means:

According to the Metro Nashville Police affidavit, the theft originally took place in July when Chance Mongeon jumped the counter of a rental car facility at the airport, grabbed keys, and fled in a 2017 Dodge Challenger.

At least this guy has tremendous taste. I’d probably judge a little bit if he made this grandiose decision and came away with like….a Corolla. Instead, he went with the Dodge Challenger, which I would say is an admirable target for theft…not to encourage that or anything. Just saying – if you steal a Dodge Challenger, I figure most people would think you’re cool. Definitely not that you’re a bad person.

Police say in the process, Mongeon drove down a one-way road over two spike strips while fleeing. Police were able to spot the stolen car on I-24 but Mongeon did not stop for police.

At that time, dispatchers received a call from Mongeon’s alleged girlfriend, identified as Cristy Cardwell. According to the affidavit, Cardwell told police she knew Mongeon had stolen the car but would not reveal his intentions until she received reward money, saying “she knew the law very well and didn’t have to give him up.”

Oh, so she’s a lawyer too, apparently? Damn, what a catch to lose. She’s willing to at least get in a stolen car with you, -AND- she’s a lawyer, but she just couldn’t hang on when the shit hit the fan. Shame.

Police say Cardwell told them she was actually in the stolen car and would give the exact location only when she had reward money.

Police caught up with the 38-year-old Cardwell and she was booked into the Davidson County Jail on Tuesday for accessory after the fact. According to the affidavit, Cardwell attempted to harbor and abet a fugitive, intended to hinder his arrest, and refused to provide aid to assist in Mongeon’s arrest.

Ultimately, she gave up on him. Sad. But, we all know what happens to snitches and sellouts. That’s right. They end up booked in the slammer even though they obviously know the law.

Good, I say. Hard to call, but I think Chance here is actually the winner in this whole ordeal. He’s going to have free room and board for a while. He looked really cool in his Dodge Challenger. And, he found out that he did not indeed have the ‘ride or die’ we all seek in life. Better to have learned that lesson now than after he put a ring on it.
