I’m not even going to pretend to relate to the youth of today. I’m 31 years old, and yes, I’m well aware that my friends and I did plenty of dumb, wasteful shit when we were kids. We used to take my old action figures out into the backyard and hit them with baseball bats. Those things are selling on e-Bay for like $20 a pop now. It’s insane, and deep down, I kinda hate myself a little bit for it. But, we never, and I mean never, had anything as dumb as this phone flip challenge thing I’ve been seeing pop up on Twitter and Instagram:

At the risk of sounding like a crotchety old man, this isn’t entertaining. This is just madness. And, I know what you’re going to say right now. “Stoney….this is SPARTA!” and that’s a well-placed joke, but what you’re really going to say is, “this is just kids being kids.” I see a thousand dollar phone eat it off the side of a bridge and my heart skips a beat. I feel for that kid because he just unloaded an avalanche of shit. He’s probably going to be grounded for a month and they’re going to take away his Game Boy. Kids still play with those, right?
Oh, who am I kidding? It’s not my money floating down the river. Of course this is entertaining! If it wasn’t entertaining, why would it even be on this web site? So, I’ve learned something about myself today, and I hope you all have, too. Your boy can be a little hypocritical when it comes to the #CONTENT.
