Nate Washington Praises Titans Hiring of Mike Vrabel

I’ve always thought Nate Washington was one of the more underrated wide receivers, not just in Tennessee Titans history, but among his entire generation of wide receivers. The dude was speedy, shifty, and always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. It’s a shame those Titans teams from 2009-2014 never made the playoffs – lot of talented guys on those rosters who deserved a shot, Washington being one of ’em.

So, I’m perusing the Twitter and Reddit machines for Titans stories, as us bloggers are prone to do. Think about it – we don’t have immediate access to the team, so we gots to find our stories online. This tweet caught my eye:

#85 had a reputation for being a great dude, real locker room leader, and was even named team captain in 2013. So, as a Titans fan, I see that, and knowing what Washington meant to the culture of those teams, I think, “wow – that’s high praise. Feelin’ even better about that hire.”

But then, something else caught my eye:

And, now I’m thinking, “damn, Nate Washington on this coaching staff wouldn’t be such a bad idea!”

I mean, he fits Jon Robinson’s “leader of men” characteristic. He knows the ins and outs of the wide receiver position. He has a strong connection to the Titans, as one of the franchise’s greatest receivers. Why not give it a shot? I think it’s something that would be an easy sell to Nashville, and would benefit the team.

#85, we see you.
